Lucky You Juice Cleanse…Review

I’m not quite sure how it happened but my theme for the week seems to be ‘cleanse’. I’ve spent some (alot of) time cleaning out my wardrobe, cleaning my space, my thoughts and it worked in perfectly that I got the opportunity do a 3 day Lucky You juice cleanse.

This cleanse is 3 days of consuming only organic, fresh pressed juices, coconut water and water (as seen in the hands of Miranda Kerr, I will definitely have what shes having).

Now, I’m quite a healthy person, although I do believe in 80/20 or 90/10, practicing a healthy lifestyle most of the time and enjoying a treat every now and then. However I will be honest with you, with the release of my book (I did refer to this as my baby and the 5kgs that came with it, my baby weight), I have been a little more relaxed as I’m trying to find my own time/work/fitness/motivation schedule.

Needless to say, I was desperately feeling like it was time for a cleanse. I had seen Lucky You cleanses and decided they looked like the best option (plus I had tried their Cashew Nut Mylk at an event which was so delicious and yummy I couldnt wait to have it again).

Like anything with nutrition, health, fitness, any industry really, there will be people ‘for’ and people ‘against’ certain things. I will reiterate, I believe in finding out what works for you.

I decided I need a juice cleanse, a program to stick to as I felt like my body needed a break, in particular my digestive system which I struggle with, but I was also aware of an increasing sugar addiction I was creating (with Clean treats by Charlie, recipe tasting).

‘Your body will tell you what it needs.’ Jennifer Anniston

Excited and ready I couldn’t wait for the delivery of my juices.

Firstly I would like to say that I am pro, eating the rainbow, getting as much colour as possible into your daily nutritional intake. Unpacking the fresh pressed juices, my senses were delighted with the colourful array…(don’t laugh) but they looked so pretty in my fridge, stocked up nicely. Part of the enjoyment of food that we take for granted is the way it appeals to our eyesight, this is part of mindful eating.

You begin each day with a warm glass of lemon water (which I do anyway) to promote  and then later take an Aloe Vera Elixir.

The day progresses with 6 raw, unpasteurized, fresh pressed juices.

Juice 1: Pineapple smoothie; including Kale, Spinach, Pineapple and banana, I have to say one fo my favourites, and fulling.

Juice 2: Green Juice; including everything green, and green is good. Lightweight and felt very ‘cleansing’.

Juice 3: Spicy Lemonade; including Cayenne pepper, I could definitely feel my metabolism boosted.

Juice 4: Red or Orange juice; a colourful palette of healthy nurturing ingredients.

Juice 5: Green Juice; collection of greens (unfortunately my least favourite but it got me closer to enjoying my fave #6)

Juice 6: Cashew Nut Mylk; exactly as it says, an amazing night-time smoothie designed to keep you full until the morning (and something to look forward to).

My experience:

Day 1: The first day I got to experience the juices, the tastes and the feeling of my body starting to remove/flush toxins. I must admit I was hungry, and I experienced a headache (due to the amount of caffeine I was previously consuming), I was in bed by 9pm and it was one of the best (deepest) sleeps I have had in a long time.  Morning movement & yoga as my exercise.

*I also continued morning movement (fasted exercise) whilst on the cleanse.

Day 2: I knew what to expect and what the juices tasted like. I woke up looking forward to my morning smoothie and already noticed a difference in my energy and mood. I had Muay Thai training and a sauna session booked. My energy levels werent 100% during the training session but it felt good to get my body moving, whilst sipping on Coconut water to ensure hydration. I again enjoyed a rested sleep.

Day 3: I woke up and noticed a difference in my stomach blasting, my bowel movements were more regular, * they do state with this cleanse you can experience constipation due to consuming no solids. The skin on my body felt soft and supple. I felt light. I wasnt craving sugar or caffeine as I had the previous days.

Day 4: Waking up, the juice cleanse is over, but I am careful not to overload my system. I feel like I have just had a 3 day ‘reset’, my stomach and digestive system feel clean and light (I normally experience tightness and pain), my mind feels clear, today I have been so focused and productive. I’m not craving sugar and I’m only choosing wholefoods to continue nourishing my body, and Im actually craving these.
Would I promote it, yes. Would I do it again, yes.

I believe its important to give our bodies a time out, just like our minds, we often under appreciate the amount of work our systems do and the pressure we put on them. Do you realise the effect of that bar of chocolate, those few glasses of wine? how hard your body has to work the toxins, chemicals and xenoestrogens?

Take time to restore yourself.

Follow the directions to achieve the best results.

Lucky You promotes the chewing of the juices to activate digestive enzymes.

Exercise is promoted to assist the removal of toxins. Reminder, your lymphatic system (the waste removal system) is only activated by manual movement so this is imperative for optimal results. I also body brushed while on the cleanse.

Stay hydrated, keep your H2O up. I sipped on de caffeinated herbal teas throughout the day also.

I am astonished at the way my skin feels, the way my stomach and digestive feels (for me this is a huge deal as I have struggle with this for so long now), the way im NOT craving sugar, or caffeine!!! I didnt weigh myself before or after the cleanse as I dont promote rapid weight loss, but I definitely feel lighter, my stomach is flat and I can see more definition in my muscles.

The 3 day program is $225.00

The Be Well Project.

‘I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Charlie and the be Well project, not only did it truly resonate with me, but it was an easy, motivating and the first time I believe a total ‘holistic program’ has been offered, for me personally the challenges were to begin to accept myself and my journey, come what may, self-love would have to be the most important exercise I know do on a daily basis, at first it can seem confronting or ‘corny’ however I solely recommend to push through these negative thoughts as the results are more than beneficial.

new year

I am a better person to myself and to my loved ones through the self-search of love no matter what and where I am in the journey to be a healthier person, it taught me to think more of the universal bigger picture that just total focus on the exercise and controlling my eating.

Thankyou Charlie, you really have given me the tools and basis of which I will continue on my journey to accept myself regardless.’

The Skin Expert…The importance of Cleansing

For those of you (myself included) that perhaps neglect to take your makeup of at night time, this is for you, I also thought cleansing would be a brilliant place to start for ‘The Skin Expert’.

So lets start with one of the most imperative steps to your skincare regime…Cleansing.

Why its important…not to mention the amount of makeup we pile on our faces to be more attractive, but throughout the day we are exposed to environmental toxins, all the suff we can’t see;

  • Persistent organochlorine pollutants (such as dioxins, PCBs some pesticides)
  • Chemicals (such as solvents, formaldehyde, vinyl chloride, some pesticides, ingredients in cosmetics or other substances applied directly to skin)
  • Metals (such as nickel, chromium, etc.)

Our skin is the largest organ of the body and its job is to protect our internal organs. Your skin is the first step of protection and an integral part of your immune system. The skin breathes; inhales (oxygen and nutrients) and exhales, it senses heat, cold, pressure . Also, what we eat becomes us. The food we choose this month, is effectively next months skin. I know myself, if I havent been on form, healthy eating, exercising and thinking…Ill see this in my skin.

Some people may experience skin disease and disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis or even pigmentation as a result from toxins on the skin and in the body.

Keep it simple. Cleanse.

Theres no need to invest your $$$ on an ‘advanced’ cleansers, your cleanser is only designed to be on the skin for a few moments, which in this time is not long enough for ‘those’ expensive or ‘miracle’ ingredients to be absorbed all the way to the germinativum layer (the lower level of the epidermis).

What to use?

My advice, stay away from any product containing Sodium Laurel Sulfate (a highly toxic ingredient used by many products to ‘foam’, sometimes seen as SLS), use gentle cleansing products that don’t leave the skin feeling tight or stripped. Generally if you are left with this feeling, the products you have used may contain alcohol, or if it is an active product (alpha hydroxy acids etc) you may have over used the product therefore causing damage to the skins natural defence barrier (also called the rheins barrier). This can also be seen in the skin by an uneven redness. If you start to notice this, monitor the products you are using and how long you are using them for.

A few of my favourite organic skin care cleansers:

Aeos Cleansing Oil De-Maq; a beautiful blend of sesame, avocado and spelt oil to effectively remove makeup (including eye) and surface toxins. This range also incorporates blends of plants extracts with energies from gems and crystals.

Alexami Purifying Gentle cleanser, Aloe vera based so its excellent for sensitive skin (I personally suffer from Rosacea, one of the most difficult skin concerns to treat), white tea as an antioxidant and chamomile. Gentle, yet effective and smells delicious.

People for Plants Foaming Gel Cleanser; containing grapefruit as a refreshing, revitalising extract, this is brilliant for combination skin (especially for that time of the months ladies when you experience breakout because from hormonal changes). Also containing Aloe Vera to calm. This brand is also cruelty free.which I LOVE!

So whats the harm in sleeping with your makeup on? Well as your skin cells naturally desquamate (this means dead skin cells are forced off the surface of the skin as the new skin cells come through. Skin cells have approx a 28 day turnover process) at night time. When you sleep with that makeup on (that enhances your natural beauty)…your skin isn’t able to proliferate these cells properly (so its actually doing the opposite). They cannot breathe and in fact you’re ensuring that the makeup gets trapped within the skin cell layers causing congestion and toxins within the layers of the skin.

If you experience underlying congestion (when you run your fingertips over your skin and feel ‘something’ underneath), this may be a reason.

Get cleansing. Every night. Then nourish with renewing, active ingredients (that’s a post for another day).

So, with just a little insight as to the importance of cleansing, I hope that tonight you do (and every other night).

Love the skin you’re in,

The Skin Expert x.

What is a Health Coach?

Sometimes in life we all need a hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on, a support system. Sometimes you can find that this doesnt come from those closest to you, as we go through life’s trial and tribulations, we find we have to evaluate the true support in our systems.

This is where a Health Coach comes in. Different to a personal trainer or a nutritionist. A health coach is someone to support you and offer guidance so you can find your passion and purpose and make the right (healthier and happier) choices.

Its a gentle reminder to create healthy habits, and someone to be responsible to. Someone to be there.

‘You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.’ Buddha

Sometimes all we need is to talk and have someone listen. Think about it when was the last time you actively listened to a loved one? When was the last time you were heard?

As a health coach I dont recommend specific diet plans or [programs, however we work together to find out what works for you. Biochemical individually. You are unique. Your mind, your body, your lifestyle requirements. Together we can create the life you love.

‘To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.’ Buddha

I work with my clients to create balance in their lives, whether this may be in career, relationships, self love, family, business or health…they are all related. How often have you found that when you excel in one area, others start to fail? Because your focus changes. I am here to help you re-focus and set intentions.

‘Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.’ Earl Nightengale

I host wellness seminars (please let me know if you are interested in hosting one at your business). These are designed to inspire and motivate and plant seeds of positivity.

Upcoming events:

I would love to see you there!

Self love Sunday…self care (is important)

Perhaps it’s because I surround myself with women that are ‘go getters’, you know, the ones that are always on the go, they have dreams and aspirations, they are those ones who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world (and I have no doubt they will), but I have found that there is feeling of exasperation that’s increasing…the feeling of the weight of the world on your shoulders, even if it is only your surrounding world (that’s more than enough).

‘To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.’ Thich Nhat Hanh

You see for these strong, focus driven, dream chasers their surrounding worlds; partners, lovers, friends and family depend on them and turn to them as a constant source of support and inspiration. Which is of course brilliant, but as I have found, as a giver, a lover, peace sharer; we tend to just keep giving.

Self love Sunday is about reigniting that little light within yourself that can start to dimmer throughout the long week, as sometimes you may give too much or as life throws you challenges. Self love sunday is your time to restore. However self-care is usually the first thing that we compromise, when really, how can we expect to be a source of strength and guidance for others when we arent feeling more than 110% (because I have discovered you need more than that to be able to do so)?

Self love Sunday, invest in yourself. Self care is the most valuable investment you will ever make. Do it regularly.

You deserve it, you are worthy, self care is a NON negotiable.

‘Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.’ Carl Gustav Jung

Use this time to check in with yourself, how are you going? How are you feeling? Stop. Truly ask yourself, how am I feeling? If your feeling a little out of sorts or under pressure, ask yourself, what do I need in this very moment? You have within you the answers you seek, its imperative we take this time to be still and listen.

So, your self care may be different than mine after all we are indiciduals. After 30 years of learning to love myself, my body, my (sometimes/most the time, complicated) mind, my investment is:

Firstly, Im cleansing, my body and also my week.

Babe Himalayn Salt scrub – Get a juicy booty…yes please!

1. Himalayan salts mixed with almond and essential oils.

Simply apply in the shower when wet and scrub.

Removes excess dead skin cells. Did you know as you age your skin cell proliferation process sloowwwwws down, this means dead skin cells stay stuck to the surface of the skin for a longer period of time leaving the complexion dehydrated, aged and dull? Say no, and get your glow on with this salt scrub. I will be focusing on particular problematic areas (that lovely addition some of us are graced with, because our bodies are gorgeous with or without it…cellulite). Manual massage over these areas will improve your lymphatic system which is your body’s waste removal system, therefore helping you to remove those disgusting toxins that don’t belong in your beautiful body, and that cause our least favourite attribute…cellutlie.

2. Alexami purifying gentle cleanser.

Certified Organic Australia; this means NO parabens (interesting fact, parabens have been found in breast cancer tissue), no mineral oil, no propylene Glycol, no SLS (I will be writing more on this Sodium Laurel Sulphate and its dangers in the upcoming weeks on The Skin Expert), no synthetic fragrances or artificial colours.

Say yes to feeding your skin organic goodness.

This cleanser has one of my favourite ingredients…White Tea plus Chamomile for calming, Vitamin E, antioxidants (they fight the free radical damage/toxins) and elderberry extract. It sounds good enough to eat, and the beauty of organic products is that they are. It’s imeprative you cleanse your skin every night, twice if you wear makeup to remove the environmental toxins, dirt and impurities.

Then I’m going to nourish my beautiful body (always repeat positive affirmations, every positive thought you have is a seed, and they will grow. The truly priceless relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself).

Body: Dr Lewinns Tone up Body Moisturiser

Advanced Liposome technology, which means the ingredients are designed to be delivered into the lower levels of your skin. Alpha Lipoic acid is an antioxidant with the unique ability to recycle Vitamin C and gluthianone once used within the body (this means you get more nutrient value). Again, I will be paying particular attention to ‘those’ areas and ensuring my movements are upwards towards the heart (this helps to flush the toxins to the lymph nodes located in the groin (femoral or inguinal).

‘You can’t build joy on a feeling of self-loathing.’ Ram Dass

Face: AlexamiExotic8 Facial Oil

Certified organic & blends together 8 restorative essential oils, plus Acerola berry (antioxidant and some studies show it can promote the production of collagen, which as you may know naturally slows down as we age) and Black tea (protects against UVB and has been called the natural alternative to sunscreen, it also helps repair the damage caused by UV rays, the damage that leads to mutated cells and can then lead to cancer).

Its ideal to use high quality products laden with antioxidants and beneficial ingredients in particular at night time as this is when the skin cell renewal process takes place. Your body is releasing growth hormone and trying to repair the free radical and toxin damage down throughout the day, give it a little helping hand with restorative products.

Then…relax time. What I call ‘Charlie time’, a good book, my new-found addiction (that is good for me) Pukka tea and a delicious soma bite (you must try these as a healthy treat if you havent yet). Certified 100% natural organic, no added sugar (no guilt, I LOVE), and gluten free AND homemade…yum. These little treasures also contain Goji berries (another addiction), Chia seeds and almonds, super food; super treat

‘You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love & affection.’ Buddha

And lastly but definitely not least, I will be resting my clean, nourished, relaxed self on my new Slip (for beauty sleep) pillowcase, made from Mulberry Silk; anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle and anti bed head hair (yes, I am a little bit of a product nerd I am so excited, I have had this all week, but because I believe in making things special/rituals and appreciating the small things, I thought it would be perfect tonight). I will be resting my cleanse, nourished skin on these the deluxe slips as I mediate for a productive week.

Yes, I would say this is a self-care evening, preparing my skin, my body and my mind for the amazing week ahead (which I already know will be full of opportunities, because thats all I choose to see).

Whatever it is you are doing…make time for YOU. You deserve it, you are worthy, you are your #1 priority.

Love & light,

Charlie x.

‘The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself  Steve Maraboli

{Dont forget my belief system is, everything in balance, yes I promote organic where possible, but I also appreciate advanced product technology}

Depression & its Ebony tinted glasses.

Yesterday I had one of those days, I had felt it coming for a little while, my old enemy depression knocking at my door, waiting for its opportunity to come in and make himself at home (oddly I refer to it as him).

And he did. It only took a few little things to escalate to a big thing. I started the over-thinking, over-awful sing, the ‘oh my Goodness it’s over’ thinking. The negative downward spiral that fast sends us out of control. Now I’m not perfect and I have never claimed to be. I am just like you, trying to make each day better, to live healthier and happier, hence why I have decided that becoming a Health coach is my calling, inspiring people is my passion, because I need the love & inspiration to surround me. I have studied and learnt about the body, the hormones and the way food affects us, especially in a depressed state (think how often you do something that is self harming when feeling down? the alcohol, the binge, the acting out towards a loved one, only to feel worse, these are all created from sense of fear and are acts of self sabotage). So I have created healthy happy rituals that are my ladder out of that black hole known as depression, or my light when the darkness takes over (the world is see through ebony tinted glades that once were rose but now everything that was once beautiful seems to have a black (ebony) tint, also know as the fog).

‘This is what I am. I have periods of enormous self-destructive depression, where I go completely off my trolley and lose all sight of reality and reason.’ Siobhan Fahey

Life is not always going to be sunshine & roses (thank you for that fact rocky), but it truly is about how you deal with whatever it is that is thrown to you. Yesterday I jut let myself wallow for a moment (it lasted approx half an hr) I went to bed in the middle of the day I ate chocolate (organic though) and I cried. All The while my mind was in a battle, the positive vs the old negative beliefs were at war (you created this problem, you should have known better, the universe will look after you, it’s your own fault, I trust you, you can find a way, you don’t deserve happiness, it was good for a moment, you have to do the work, you can do it, just get up!). My heart and body just simply needed a time out.

‘I’ve had some dark nights of the soul, of course, but giving in to depression would be a sellout, a defeat.’ Christopher Hitchens

So whilst I have suffered depression for many years now, it’s nowhere near the crippling, stay in bed self sabotage, self loathing, last for days on end as it was before. Because now I know I deserve good in my life. I have cultivated self love and self-dependence that even when the darkest storm comes in, the little light inside my heart will not be blown out, it will always burn, and it will always have my key mantra…’everything will always be ok, I love you on’ repeat for times like this when I need it. For you may not understand but every single positive thought, every happy action, every healthy habit you think and do is like water on this seed, everyday fertilising the light/flower within my heart and soul, and It’s miraculous, like a seed it grows and becomes stronger.

‘Enthusiasm is followed by disappointment and even depression, and then by renewed enthusiasm.’ Murray Gell-Mann

Now, this little light, my true essence of being is protected like my own secret garden, it’s fiercely guarded. No one or nothing will ever take or blow this out. This does not mean that I don’t feel depression, sadness, loneliness, confusion or the ‘this is too hard’ thoughts (especially trying to run your own business as a giver, when the cost of living is a taker). But I can appreciate the dark low feelings. I can go to bed for a minimum amount of time, allow myself to cry express my frustration, and the what will I do thoughts of exasperation, but rather than wallow I have now built up enough positive thoughts and affirmations these are on repeat in my mind. So like a friend that says those ebony tinted glasses don’t suit you at all, I take them off (because we do live in an image based world and I am a women who attempts to take pride in my appearance) and instead replace them with my rose tinted glasses. Because when there is a will there is always a way.

‘Exercise is the most powerful and underutilized antidepressant and its free.’

Create healthy habits that keep you afloat through the storm. Understand that it is ok to feel bad. It’s fine. Don’t focus on the thoughts, the problems. Instead feel them, acknowledge them then get to your positive actions, be a problem solver. Go for a run. Read an inspirational book. Everything will always be ok and there is always light within the darkness you just have to look within yourself and be ready to see it. Life is nt meant to be easy, but you choose your thoughts like the way you choose what your wear, will you put on the dark unflattering ebony tinted glasses or will you choose to be your best self and put on the flattering pretty rose-tinted glasses?

The choice, has and will always be yours.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Today Im wearing my favourite Rose (& gold) tinted glasses to see my world in sunshine, light & happiness.

Self made, not man made.

Now I’m sure this is no latest trend but perhaps as my eyes are opening to society and I am becoming aware of the world around me, maybe I’m noticing more of this occurring…women with men to ‘make’ them?

‘When you stop trying to find the right man and start becoming the right woman, the right man will find his way to you.’ Cher

Now I’m not even talking about the classic gold digger, I’m referring to those girls who are with someone for reasons they find justifiable. His friends, his influence, his business. What if you could be a self made women? A women of independence doing what you can with what you have; passion and drive?

‘Life is a challenge, meet it’ Mother Theresa

Some people would rather be in any type of relationship rather than alone and particularly if his ‘particulars’ assist our goals. Does this come from a sense of insecurity a lack of sense of self? My thoughts (and remember these are my simple musings about the world around me) is that yes, it does. If you need to be with some one for a sense of validation, you haven’t yet learnt the true power of self love.

‘Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.’ Norman Vincent Peale

Self love is when you know exactly who you are, you feel the doubt, the insecurity, yet you have the courage to face the world with a ‘this is me, like it or not. I am who I am attitude’ (and believe me there will always be someone who doesn’t like you). Facing the world front on exactly as you are requires strength and a deep integral self support and belief system. Truth is, we all make mistakes. It doesn’t matter. As long as you have your own back. Stop leaning on someone for the pure benefit of having someone there or someone who can support (in all ways) you and your goals (for all the wrong reasons).

‘My willingness to be intimate with my own deep feelings creates the space for intimacy with another.’ Shakti Gawain

You are strong enough to do it on your own. Stop waiting to be rescued. That’s a big statement that I know a lot of girls and women are guilty of feeling…when I meet ‘the one’, ‘when I get married’, ‘I don’t have to work hard or make something of myself because when I’m married I’ll be a stay at home mum’. Chances are you’ll be just as unsatisfied when/if that happens as you are now. Be self made. Create a sense of self dependance, and attitude of I can, I will, watch me. Then be with someone who you can compliment and who compliments you, not out of need.

‘When you are discontent, you always want more, more, more. Your desire can never be satisfied. But when you practice contentment, you can say to yourself, ‘Oh yes – I already have everything that I really need.’ Dalai Lama

There is no greater power than self trust and belief. Setting yourself a goal no matter how big or small and achieving it. This rewards your mind, and your body. You feel good. You release all sorts of wonderful chemicals and hormones that create a sense of self worth. Remember the last goal you had that you achieved? Take a moment to reignite that feeling… If you haven’t got a current goal other than finding a man to save you, I highly suggest you go get one. Even if it’s get to the gym today, eat healthy, or run a marathon.

A sense of accomplishment creates pride (not ego), strength and courage.

Create a goal, and then go get it done.

Love & light, Charlie x.

{I’m here, waiting for the one who will do anything to be my everything, but in the mean time I have love to share, work to be done and (HUGE) goals to accomplish}

Old friends. New friends.

As I have launched myself into the world that is self employment, dream chasing, following my dream, aspiring to inspire {and all the fun stuff called stress that comes with it}, I’m experiencing challenges of a different kind, the type that not everyone can relate to. I have found that as my life is changing immensely I am making connections with new people who just get it. They get me, and the conversations over a green juice flow effortlessly for hrs.

‘Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.’ Oprah Winfrey

I have felt myself hold onto guilt for not experiencing the same mind-blowing connection with old friends. Guilt because aren’t friends me at to be in your life forever? Guilt for redirecting my time. Guilt for investing my time with people whose lives are flowing in the same direction (like rivers running parallel).

I discussed this manner with someone who was one of these soul inspiring meetings and she justified my truth, people come and go this is the natural flow and ebb of life. As you change your priorities change, your interests change. So it’s not so much about leaving people behind, it becomes how committed are you both to investing in the friendship? Is the friendship worth committing to? (This I cant answer for you, its something you should both decide).

‘I think it’s a very firm part of human nature that if you surround yourself with like-minded people, you’ll end up thinking more extreme versions of what you thought before.’ Cass Sunstein

I no longer choose to spend my weekends a in a dark club consuming ridiculous amounts of alcohol and other substances. I work for myself, every day is vital to my survival…my income. I literally cannot afford to waste a day. My time is my value, not only that, but in my business, I am my greatest asset. If I dont feel 110% on the inside I cannot give 110% to my world around me.

I cannot afford to have a day spent in bed hurting (because my gosh alcohol does). If I say no to a drinking session, or partying why should I experience guilt, after all, is acting in such self harming ways good for either of our health? Surely it’s ok for me to request healthy options to invest our time wisely and nourish and nurture our bodies and minds at the same time?

Spend time with people who sincerely want the very best life has to offer you. People who believe in the beauty of your dreams. People who inspire you.

‘Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction. Break the habit. Talk about your joys.’ Rita Schiano

Life Changes, we change.

‘As you learn who you are, you can better surround yourself with friends who make you a better person, and that sometimes only happens when you disassemble old relationships.’ Maggie Stiefvater

There are people we automatically gravitate to because of a connection. Since releasing my book I have been working hard, I can easily say harder than I ever have before. This is my dream, & to continue living it every moment matters. My time is my investment. I have been lucky enough to connect with beautiful people who just get it, the passion, pressures and direction of a dream, a goal and who understand the trials and tribulations of creating your own business. If I have a deadline, I have a deadline and this means doing whatever it takes to meet it, including working until 1am on a Friday night to get it done, I will do so. (I do enjoy the pressures of deadlines) Not everyone understands this.

I’m not saying new friends are better than old friends, I’m simply asking how committed are both you and your older friend to ensuring the friendship grows? Like any relationship, it takes effort. Respect. Are you being respectful and appreciative of the people in your life? Are you to focused on the good times (partying?) what happens when this is over? There are people who are meant to be in your life for a lifetime, others for a moment. Learn to value each and every person, every connection. Not for what you can get from them, but for what you can give them.

People will come and go, be your true self and create a sense of understanding, life changes, we change.

‘To all the other dreamers out there, don’t ever stop or let the world’s negativity disenchant you or your spirit. If you surround yourself with love and the right people, anything is possible.’ Adam Green
