Charlie: You have created a successful career as a health & wellness expert/blogger, what do you attribute this success to?

My passion for health and wellness combined with specializing in Business and Marketing in the Corporate world has been key to creating the success of Relauncher.

It’s really important to do what you love and you’ll thrive!

babes1

Charlie: When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the wellness industry?

I had 2 children close together.  I didn’t want to go back to the Corporate lifestyle, so started focusing on what I could do with my skills and interests to create my own business.

I spent a year planning Relauncher – it’s a long time, but I wasn’t in any rush.  The boys were my primary focus while they were still young and at home.  When they started school, I then launched the business. It’s now been over 4 years since the site went live!

‘Try to be a rainbow in someones cloud’ Maya Angelou

Charlie: How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?

I truly love what I do.  Although the hours are long – I enjoy every moment.

I’m a Health & Wellbeing Business & Marketing Coach and the creator of the Australian Health & Wellness Networking Events.

I specialise in taking businesses to their next level, and thrive on connecting like-minded people via the networking events.

It’s an honour to be in the position I’m in and one I’ve worked very hard to achieve.

Charlie: Has there been any challenges along your journey?

Many!  As most Small Business owners will agree – the first couple of years in business can be tough.

Although I have degrees in Business and Marketing and over 15 years experience in large organisations – my learnings through running a Small Business and taking it from hardship to success is immeasurable.

What Relauncher is today, is very different from what it was when the company first launched.  I had 2 other business partners; the branding, offering and business model were completely different!  It’s this journey, which has made me an expert at what I am today.

Charlie: How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?

I get up super early each morning to fit everything in.

I’ve also been streamlining the business over the past few months, so I’m working more effectively & efficiently.  It’s a continual work in progress as the business grows, however it’s going in the right direction.

It’s really important to have a balance between work and lifestyle, so I’m strict with myself about the times that I work to ensure I have time for my family.

Charlie: What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

Follow your passions, have a plan and be unique.

Below are my 5 tips for business success.

  • Create a solid foundation.  This involves:
    • Vision Statement, Target Audience, Key Messaging, Services / Products, Clear Marketing Tools
  • Know your target audience
    • An age bracket of approx. 15 years, demographic, lifestyle, interests, location, types of jobs, marital status, male / female…..
  • Create strong key messaging
    • This must be a series of succinct sentences – approximately 3-5 messages depending on your business.  The messages should feed into your Vision Statement.
  • Revisit and refresh your business 6 monthly
    • This may seem quite frequent, however if you revisit and refresh more often, it’s a smaller job and keeps you on track with communication.
  • Don’t be a copycat – be unique!

seslf sabotage 2Charlie: What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

‘We know what we are, but know not what we may be.’ William Shakespeare

Follow it and don’t hold back.

Take educated risks and climb out of your comfort zone.  If you would like guidance – hire a coach to help you get started / take you to the next level in your business.

Charlie: What can we look forward to next from you?

So so much!  Never a dull moment

I have a lot of Business Coaching clients which keeps me busy, plus I have upcoming business development workshops in Melbourne and Sydney.

I’m also working on some other exciting new projects, which I’m really enjoying!

My Yoga Matt…my Magic Carpet.

Last night during our yoga class we were invited to make our intention…Triumph, to celebrate every small ‘win’ we have in our life, for having a better day than yesterday, for choosing happier thoughts, healthier foods, for making it to the yoga matt (in yoga you are welcomed to set an intention/focus for your class, whatever it is that you are needing today, in this moment of your life).

images-23

Some of you may know, I have made a commitment to my yoga practice; 5 x per week. I do believe that yoga changed my life in ways I couldn’t begin to imagine over 12 months ago (I would try to practice 1-2 x per week then). Now, as my life is immensely changing I wanted some form of structure, so I choose yoga (I am also lucky enough to have the flexibility to fit this into my current work/life schedule), the most rewarding practice for my mind, body and soul during one of the most exhilarating, special and possibly scariest times of my life.

Now, I come from an athletic background, I love feeling my body work, pushing it to its limits, running; long distance, sprints, weights etc. Therefore, Yoga for me is extremely challenging, to keep my active mind focused on and in my practice.

Its been over a month now since Ive made my comitement and keeping it (probably one of the longest commitments Ive kept in a while), and I have been experiencing a new feeling, something out of this world.

‘Mindfulness helps you go home to the present. And every time you go there and recognize a condition of happiness that you have, happiness comes’. Thich Nhat Hanh

tumblr_misjeeX62F1rmly4qo1_500

As I lay on my matt, my body is automatically filled with a sense of familiarity, of thanks, it nearly feels like a ‘hello’, a sense of ‘welcome’. I presume this is because as I continue my practice I am starting to reap the rewards of which there are many, and my body senses this as I am welcomed onto my matt, ready to experience the joys of yoga.

In Aladdin, Aladin says to Princess Jasmine ‘Its a magic carpet, lets get out of the palace, see the world’.

My yoga matt is my magic carpet, it offers me a whole new world, filled with love, peace and positivity.

‘I can open your eyes, take you  wonder by wonder. On a magic carpet ride, a whole new world, a new fantastic point of view, no one to tell us no or where to go, or say were only dreaming, a whole new word, a dazzling place a I never knew.’ Aladdin

You create a sense of connection between your mind, body and soul on your yoga matt. Yes, there are struggles, to keep focused and present is part of the practice that is yoga. It’s important to find a yogi and studio you connect with, this will make the difference to your practice, whether you enjoy it or dread it.

“I have been a seeker and I still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my Soul.” Rumi

I practice at Flow Athletic (www.flowathletic.com.au) and my favourite yogi is Lynsey W. She speaks to us as we hold postures, struggling between feeling the fire within our body and keeping focus within the mind. She speaks about celebrating the feeling, last night she said ‘its called yoga practice, not yoga perfect’, I couldnt help but smile, all to often as we attempt these postures that the yogis make look effortless, we become so serious, demanding on our bodies trying to force our way into the posture.

Yoga is a reward. My yoga matt my transportation to a better world.

Central Park Urban Yoga

In this world I am free from negativity, free from stress, I am filled with love and peace. For yoga teaches you how to be calm in the midst of a storm (situation), that no matter what happens or where you are on your own life journey, you can always return to this place of peace, your yoga matt adn generate a feeling of love and wellbeing within yourself.

‘When you find peace within yourself, you become th kind of person who can live at peace with others’. Peace Pilgrim

‘A whole new world, unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling.’ Aladin

Shavasna is the final posture (destination) in yoga practice and I’ve recently been finding myself filled with something that feels like (I imagine) light would feel, I am filled with a sense of bliss, so much so I’ve begun to notice that I lay with a gentle smile on my lips, in my eyes and in my heart.

Yoga practice, not perfect. Thank you, you are changing my life and allowing me to become a better version of myself.

Self love Sunday; Evaluate your Priorities

Its Time to spend a little time with myself today; Self love Sunday and I’m going to evaluate my priorities, and hopefully get some clarity and re direction for this lovely life of mine.

ps2

It’s no doubt that I life a busy life, (I wouldn’t want it any other way), and it’s no doubt that I am a creative soul, when I am excited/inspired….there is absolutely nothing that will stop me. When I’m not, well it’s very difficult to find that inspiration ‘on’ switch.

With so many opportunities in life, how do we ensure we make the right ones? I’ve written before, but I will state that I am a perfectionist, I like my life in order and organised so I know exactly what’s going on (for mental peace but this also ensures everything gets done), I admit, I like to feel a sense of control (this does generate from a period of my life where I had no control, no direction, no sense).

It has been brought to my attention lately that perhaps I’ve taken on a little too much, committed to too many projects. (I have no problem committing to goals/deadlines or projects, but I am still working through my commitment to people/opening my heart issues).

‘ Always concentrate on the most valuable use of your time. This is what separates the winners from the losers.’ Brian Tracy

When your mind becomes an abyss of thoughts; what ifs, where to, what oppourtunity…how do you step back and re balance, Re connect with your true direction and path that’s so easy to get off?

Evaluate your priorities.

What is truly important to you? What is it that you are working for every day? Working towards every day?

ps5

Today I’m writing a list of…

Important, not so important.

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. – John Wooden

I’m going to write every little thing that’s on my mind, weighing down on my shoulders, then I’m going to organise them into top priorities; things that I can change and then on the not so important; list the things that I cannot change and are simply out of my control, so I effectively mentally, release them from my mind and they stop taking up the precious space (this will be easy for some of you, but because I like to be in control, to let go of what I’m not, or what I cannot change isn’t for me).

Research shows that writing lists is an effective way to create mental clarity. You stop the thoughts running around in your mind (chaotically in mind), causing stress, and create a clear direction visually. You can analyse what tasks are important, must do today, and determine the not so important, can be done at leisure tasks. When you have an effective planning system you can become more effective, time efficient and less stressed (get planning now). It also provides a sense of satisfaction, achievement and accomplishment when you can tick or cross those tasks off.

ps1

‘The key is not to prioritize whats on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities’. Stephen Covey.

Having a priority list/goal list/to do list also allows you to be visually reminded about why you are doing the things you are (even those mundane tasks) to get to where you want to be. If you are anything like me, I need these reminders in my life, daily.

ps4‘To succeed today, you have to set priorities, decide what you stands for.’ Lee Iacocca.

It can be so easy to be distracted; friends & social activities (enjoy time with true friends who believe in you, dont partake in negative behaviour towards yourself and to others), love & promises (stop waiting for someone to save you or make your life better); bed & sleep (this is always my personal test when the 5:30am alarm goes off).

Now because I am me and I’m a little creative (special) soul, I like to do things with essence, with meaning and create soulful experiences. Therefore my priorities list isn’t just going to be on some random bit of paper with a random pen, written at a random time, no, I am going to make it an experience; I am going to relax with a herbal concoction (my new favourite licorice/digestive, green tea/antioxidant and fennel/cleanse), light my gorgeous Ecoya candle (A beautiful gift from a truly gorgeous friend, Mimosa & white Tea nectarine), and get my ‘colourful’ on (pretty pens).

‘Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. establish your priorities and go to work’. H. L. Hunt

These are the Sunday mornings of Life.

What are your priorities? Where are you going? Who do you want to be?

If You have no goal, how can you make the right choices to get there/where you want to be?

Every moment of every day is your chance to do it right, to make it better, to live a better life. Every choice you make no matter how big or small are pieces of your dream reality.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Only you have the power to create your dream reality.

Be in the Moment…

Wherever you are, be there. Have you ever contemplated this statement and wondered, how could you be somewhere else? with life and the daily desire to become more, I must say I have been found guilty of being physically present, but mentally elsewhere.

‘Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the on the present moment.’ Buddha

bt1

Sometimes I find myself exactly where I want to be, yet my mind is elsewhere to be found, running through my mental ‘to do’ list, organising tomorrow’s schedule, or contemplating what that person really meant during our last conversation.

‘Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present’.  Jim Rohn.

Stillness of the mind, peace, calmness,  can be difficult to obtain (especially if you are a ‘I can do it all/have it all type if person like myself). It’s a skill that is definitely worth mastering and one that is effective in creating better time management, better relationships and overall better efficiency.

bt5

I have found that for me, the key to being actively present is to manage a daily productivity list (also known as a ‘to do’ list). In the morning I can pre organise my day into categories:

*Work

*Training

*Creative/inspired/(me) time.

In each category I then list my top priorities, what must be done today, and as I write them down, their importance lessons.

Same for training, and inspired time (this is my time to do what I love and enjoy). I often keep 1hr free at night time for this. It can include reading, writing, social…whatever I am feeling I’m needing.

bt2

We all have things that we need to do. I have daily and weekly planners so that I can monitor my level of energy that goes into each day and I can balance my activities. This also means I can plan my meals and be prepared.

Having a plan allows me to remove all the ‘to dos’ from swirling around in my mind, removing all the mind ‘noise’ and visualising them clearly for mental clarity.

This in turn allows me to de clutter my mind that can so easily become full with clutter and effectively allows me to enjoy every moment as it comes, to be actively present in whatever it is that I am doing.

bt3

Being actively present means that you are 100% involved in the here and now, enjoying it. Not thinking about yesterday, not worrying about tomorrow, just living and loving your life exactly as it is in this very moment.

Be present:

Pay attention; this isn’t the easiest of tasks. Research shows that during lectures, classes we only retain 30% of the information we are given (where are our minds for the other 70%? Cute guy in class perhaps?)

Actively engage; actively listen.

Focus.

‘Confine yourself to the present’. Marcus Aurelius

Let go of the ‘what if’s’.

Remember; what will be will be. There’s really no point in worrying about something you cannot change, and if you can change it, make a plan and do it.

I sometimes find myself daydreaming, mentally drifting away from myself thinking about my (so bright I’m in love with it) future, I have to remind myself that today is my life, today, this very moment is the one that I’ve always been waiting for.

‘What matters is to live in the present, live now, for every moment is now. It is your thoughts and acts of the moment that create your future. The outline of your future path already exists, for you created its pattern by your past.’ Sai Baba

The happiness formula includes being in an area of development/growth. Striving to become more. Enjoy the strive.

bt4

Quiet your mind, remove the  turbulence. Like yoga or mediation you will finally see and be who you truly are.

Love & Light, Charlie x.

‘Yesterdays the past, tomorrows the future, but today is a gift, thats why it’s called the present.’ Bil Keane

A ‘Can do’ attitude

Whether think you can or you think you can’t, your right.

Think positive thoughts, and positive things will happen. It sounds so simple, yet for some people it can be everything but.

I have lived a period of my life consumed by hate & negativity. Disgruntled at the situation I was in, feeling ‘victimised’ by the situations that occurred in my life, feeling the ‘poor me’ syndrome. Always  expecting someone to reach out and just make everything better.

I wasn’t wise enough, willing to look within, or ready to comprehend the power of self love and self assurance.

We can only live this way for so long.

Aren’t you sick and tired of being sick and tired??? Isn’t it time for a change?

imagesCAO81N7U

The power of the mind has been studied for centuries, and is receiving more and more recognition in recent years. There have been numerous best sellers (the secret), movies and motivational speakers (Anthony Robbins) that have created empires teaching people how to change their mindset and create the life they love.

Remember, we are creatures if habit. The power to change relies on the breaking of ‘bad/unsupportive’ habits. Negative thoughts are simply bad habits, thoughts you have created in response to situations.

Contemplate for a moment how amazing would it feel to break a negative, bad, makes you feel everything but good, habit?

We are all intricate individuals living busy lives, pursuing happiness. It is easy to be consumed by fear and negativity.

What if you actually reached that state of happiness…now? Do you think that would make you feel good? If in this very moment, you had a sense of well being, of peace, of serenity?

Yes…you would feel good, more then good (great I expect).

image

Happiness is everywhere…it is in the rising of the sun every morning to light your world, it is in the  breeze that circulates pollen to fertilise the flowers, the carbon that is removed &  oxygen that is released from trees to assist in our state of living, it is in the sun setting allowing the stars to shine bright in the night sky.

Are these gifts from Mother Nature not happiness? Have you taken a moment to wonder at the worlds natural beauty. To stop for a moment, breathe, relax. Calm your mind. Then deal with whatever situation you are in or that may have occurred.

image

A personal favourite mantra of mine (and I’m still learning to master this art); Respond, do not react.

We tend to react when we are acting in fear, of wanting to be right, from a place of anger (any state that is opposite of calm).

We respond in a calm manner. Anger or negativity has subsided and we can communicate effectively.

Yes, still learning this (have been advised on many occasions, not to send ‘that’ email).

So, how can we break the bad habits of negative thoughts/affirmations…

‘Write it on your heart that everyday is going to be the best day of the year’ Ralph Wardo Emerson

Wake each morning with a feeling of gratitude. Be thankful for the day that you have been blessed with. Every day can be a GOOD day.

‘There is nothing good or bad, only thinking makes it so’ Hamlet

When a negative thought occurs in your mind, acknowledge it, and let it pass by. Pay absolutely no attention to it. Negative thoughts are affirmations, just negative. The more you repeat them, the more you focus on them, the larger they will grow and suddenly it will seem you are consumed.

Understand that the thought will pass. The feeling that you are experiencing will pass. Refocus your mind. think of something that sends warmth into your heart, a person or place that creates a feeling of wellness within you.

Plant seeds of positivity into your mind. Just like a garden those seeds will grow. Feed them, water them, nourish them. This may include activities hat make you feel good; reading, running, yoga…DO MORE of what makes you feel good.

Have faith that you can change your life for the better. Trust yourself. Believe.

‘The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude’ Oprah Winfrey

 phontrsuto

You can create the life you love, you just have to believe it.

My ‘Can do’ attitude was given to me by my Opa; dutch for grandfather. Who, at a very young age had us on his knee learning to drive (manual) tractors on the family farm (whether or not he was trying to teach us a lesson or train us to work on the farm/free labour, who knows?). To this day, he will remind me of my repetitive cries ÍCANT do it”. This man, who is everything any Man or woman could look up to (moved to New Zealand during the war, away from family & friends and my beautiful Oma; dutch for grandmother, to create a life of opportunity, and our gorgeous family), did not believe in the words Í CANT’, so we just had to do it (I wasn’t very happy about it at the time I expect), but…I drove a manual tractor, into a few hedges but never the less, I DROVE. And to this very day I remember this lesson taught to me at a young age, if those horrendous words ‘I CANT’ enter my mind and I suffer from self doubt I hear his voice, You ‘CAN’.

*Id like to point out here, that it wasn’t about whether you drove into the hedge or the barn (a cousin of mine  has left her permanent mark), it was about trying.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Today I am choosing to be grateful that thorns have beautiful roses, rather then sad that the roses have thorns. There is good and bad in all things, let the good into your life, nourish it, and it will flourish. Believe it.
