Love Balls Vs Easter Eggs

With easter only days away, we can be so tempted to over indulge ourselves and let go of our fitness goals (I know I personally struggle).

I wanted to share with you some interesting numbers that will be helping me stay on track this Easter (as you know I’ve just started my I CAN have it all fitness/nutrition plan).


I used my all time favourite Creme Eggs (yes, I know how these temptations melt divinely in your mouth) and compared the macro (nutrients) and ingredients to a Clean Treat Love Ball (for those in the know or following the latest social media craze #charliesballs)

1 x Creme Egg (serving size 39g):

Protein: 1.9g

Fat: 11.9g

Carb: 23.2g

Sugar: 17.8g

Sodium: 5.5

#1 ingredient: Milk Solids. #2 ingredient: Sugar. #3 ingredient: Wheat Glucose Syrup

Guilt level…better do some extra work at the gym.

1 x Chocolate Nut Love Ball (serving size 35g):

Calories: 130

Protein: 3.65g

Fat: 9.65g

Carb: 11.84g

Sugar: 6.75g

Sodium: 1.62

#1 ingredient: LOVE (Almonds). #2 ingredient: Coconut. #3 ingredient Medjool dates.

Guilt level…NONE.

Now, if your like me I still struggle to have ‘just one’ treat. So Ive done the numbers for you x 3.

3 x Creme Egg (serving size 39g):

Calories: 570

Protein: 5.7g

Fat: 35.7g

Carb: 69.6g

Sugar: 53.4 (equivalent to 14.5 Teaspoons)

Sodium: 16.5g

Guilt level…I will never be able to stick to a healthy eating plan, I’ll always fail, no one will ever love me. Sick in the stomach feeling, sugar rush then come down.

Calories: 390

Protein: 10.95

Fat: 28.95

Carb: 35.53

Sugar: 20.25g

Sodium: 4.86

Guilt level…Hmm, perhaps should have stopped at 2, will need to run or do some sprints to use the extra energy. But at least its clean energy so I havent done too much damage to my body or hormones. Ill do better tomorrow.

(I normally recommend 1-2 x Clean treats daily for my clients, particularly pre-gym).

Are yo on a health kick? Do you care about what you put into your body? Easter is no excuse to go and let loose (I mean are you even religious???). DO you have friends or family that are trying to reach their own health goals? STOP sabotaging them, give gifts of health and happiness, indulge in healthy treats, then spend some quality time together outside, walking, relaxing, sharing laughter. I promise you will get 100x more benefit then over indulging in the sweet temptations of those Easter Eggs.


Be REAL, not FAKE. If you do not know what an ingredient is, chances are your body doesnt know how to digest it.

How often do you say no?

Are you living your life with a closed heart, are you afraid of change or are you to set in your ways?

As I reflect on the relationships I have in my life, friends, family (& lovers, kidding, this position is currently open), I understand that everyone has a WIIFM (Whats in it for me) mentality. We have become so busy, wrapped up in our own lives, our own ways we need to find benefits and rewards before we step out of our comfort zone or our preorganised time schedule for other people. It can be difficult to look past the ‘whats in it for me’ mentality, and do something purely for whats in it for the person you love? Contemplate that.

I have been prone to experiencing a feeling of loneliness, even though my life is filled with love and happiness, I still felt a sense of being alone. After all, who was there that truly loved me? This was felt after repetitive efforts of catching up with my good girlfriends, yet due to the pressing schedules of both of our lives weren’t able to make long overdue plans. This has happened more than numerous times. A sense of disappointment, loneliness and a seed of weakness in our friendship would develop within me.

Yet, as I reflect (the new year is the perfect time to be working on your strengths and weaknesses) I realise that this was not their issue. This was me, being the perfectionist, scheduled, time efficient woman I am…when I would request or try to organise our girlie/guy dates, I would only offer things to do and activities that worked into MY life. The things that I liked, regardless of them (I must say most of my social circle is health, active living focused so I am lucky I created that, but not all are).

A friendship is about compromise. Acting in this manner wasnt beneficial to either of us.

Start syaing yes. Yes to a coffee date, yes to a skydiving experience, yes to a 6am bootcamp (even though that means an atrocious 5am alarm and multiple grumbles from all participants 😉

Make time for the people you love, and create experiences and memories, doing what THEY love, not just what YOU love.

Say yes to an art exhibition, to paintballing, to trying new foods.


The world has so much to offer. Experience it. Breathe it in. Let it in.

Yet so often we are quick to say no. To live in our own bubbles with our blinkers on. Open your eyes, open your heart. And I can promise you you will be more than surprised, not just by who or what comes into your life, but by the true beauty of nature, the opportunity to feel free, to remember FUN.

If someone wants to go out for dinner or the movies, but you feel like staying home (this is generally me, a homely girl), just go. This is how we connect, how we feel love. Be with the people who matter to you and who you matter to. I realised that those temporary feelings of loneliness were my own creation. It wasnt due to anyone elses negligence in offering me opportunities, it was my own stubborn/laziness.

After only a week of what feels like I have been living at a retreat (I have a soulsister staying with me for the week from melbourne, the week has been filled with every organic cafe, store, and green smoothie bar, yoga studios, training and every other type of productive activity you can imagine; goal planning, personal strengths & weakness analysis, cleansing, release work, the list goes on), I have had to practice the art of patience having another person in my life, yet have been able to truly  experience the pure delights of true friendship, love and new experiences. I have ben able to let go of my daily schedule, adn just ‘go with the flow’ and my what a journey. Memories of a lifetime are made of these moments.

I have written before, previous years mantras (focus) have been; respond, don’t react ’12’; Everything in balance ’13’.

This years mantra is to live with an open heart, even at the risk of being hurt. And if that does happen, that isn’t my karma that’s someone else’s, but I will choose to see opportunity and to love with an open heart, to give without expectation and to be open to new opportunities, new possibilities.

Monday Motivation…Nikki Sharp

This gorgeous lady is one of my favourite girl crushes…I just have to say. She leads an amazing healthy LIFESTYLE, eats clean, practises yoga and inspires many…how could you not crush on her?

NBB: You are a well-known Health/Wellness advocate. What do you attribute this success to? 

A huge part of this is that I have shared my struggles with my instagram followers so they feel like they’ve been on a journey with me. I have also made it a point to respond to every person that emails me as I like having that personal touch. I respond to comments on Instagram and try to encourage others who tag me in photos. I believe in showing my followers that I genuinely care for them and I think it shows by how quick my company grew. I also have my 5 day detox which has seen incredible results with over 20,000 people worldwide purchasing it. I love sharing everyone’s stories of their detox pictures and experience and my followers happily send me in their before and after’s to get featured on my account.

NBB: When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the health industry?

It was October ’12 as I was really enjoying training and I was always making these delicious snacks that I thought would be cool to market. I ended up holding off on those and working on my detox instead.

NBB: When did you decide to start your own business?

The same time, October ’12. It all happened very suddenly and out of the blue I suddenly had this burning desire to be helping others which is why I started my website and company. It all evolved very naturally, which has been amazing to see.

NBB: How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?
I absolutely love it. I look at all these celebrities who say they don’t want to be in the limelight and will be caught smoking drugs and drinking lots and I just don’t agree with it. I feel that if you have the amazing opportunity to be well known that you should use it to your advantage and help others. Truly there is nothing more rewarding than getting emails from mothers saying them and their daughters follow me and that the mother loves what I do and the message that I promote and that they are totally okay with their daughters following me. It’s a very cool feeling to know that I can have the power to change people’s lives!
NBB: Has there been any challenges along your journey?
Ha, oh my gosh SO MANY! People forget that I’m human just like everyone else and I go through my own struggles on my body, weight, how I look and feel. I’ve experimented with so many diets and recently did raw vegan for a while and it just didn’t work so well for me. I get really stressed having my own company and it affects my skin (which is a problem I’ve dealt with my whole life). It’s definitely not all roses for me and I do share my struggles on my IG account 1. to show people I’m the same and 2. to also get support from others.

NBB: How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?
Tough one, I try to exercise a few times a week but when I’m stressed it becomes less and I will stop eating so well. I really believe in moderation though and I used to work 10-12 hour days 6 days a week during the whole summer and it took it’s toll. So now I’m changing it up and instead working 5-6 days a week but less hours to help me keep my focus. I think it’s essential that I maintain my own health because when I feel good it shows through on my company.

NBB: What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

1. Believing in your product
2. Knowing that what you do/sell is different than what’s out there. I am definitely not the only one doing this, I’m not the best but I give a different perspective than what’s been done
3. Treating your customers (and more importantly your STAFF!) with respect. There are many times that I have had customers come back to me and not be happy and I will do what I can to help. I think your staff are most important though and that if they are not happy it will get passed on to your clients/ customers.

NBB: What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

If it is truly achievable then I absolutely recommend creating a mind map and to get a notebook and write all ideas down. I personally carry mine at all times because you never know when you’ll hear a quote, have an idea, or just need to keep track of something. I do believe there is a difference between a dream that you want and one that can happen. I will never be Beyonce or a famous singer but that has always been a dream. I think realizing your dreams that you can actually achieve is key because then you won’t feel like you didn’t succeed when you don’t become Beyonce 🙂


NBB: Top 3 healthy tips/advice?

1. Focus on weight training, not just cardio. Cardio helps burn fat but weights are what will actually get you a toned, tight and fit body and keep you slim as you burn more calories when you have more muscle.
2. Have 3 colors at every meal. This will satisfy you a lot more and keep you from binging later on.
3. Learn to recreate your favorite naughty recipes with clean version. My favorite is my vegan cheesecake which is to die for and is actually nourishing for you body!

Thursday Treat…RAW ‘Snickers’ Bites

I cannot wait until me treat making ban (whilst in competition preparation) is lifted! These little treats are first on my list!

RAW Snickers Bites:
Recipe kindly provided by the gorgeous Asha Burnley.
1 cup organic coconut oil (measure first, then melt)
1/2 cup organic raw cacao powder
1/4 cup organic rice malt syrup
Salted Caramel:
2 tablespoons organic peanut butter

2 tablespoons organic coconut oil (measure first, then melt)

2 tablespoons rice malt syrup

1/2 teaspoon pink Himalayan rock salt
1 1/2 teaspoons organic vanilla extract
Handful of raw almonds
Makes 10 – 12


1) Place all chocolate ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and mix until smooth.
2) Place all caramel ingredients in a bowl and mix until smooth.
3) Add 1 tablespoon of chocolate on the bottom of your mold – (I used very small bite sized molds)
4) Add 1 tablespoon of caramel mixture to your moulds on top of the chocolate.5
5) Add 3 almonds to each mold on top of the caramel layer
6) If you have any chocolate left, then add 1 tablespoon to coat the top.
7) These bites will require around of 15-30minutes in the freezer to set. Please be mindful that they’ll melt at room temperature, so please keep in the freezer until you are ready to serve.

rs2NOTE: Any left over caramel can be stored in a jar in the fridge for up to one week and can be added to your oats in the morning, cover some light unsalted popcorn in it or add to any cookie, slice or cheesecake recipes… So many ideas!! ENJOY!!
