Blessed {thank you}

Its taken me a few days to get time to sit down and write this.

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped me with my crowdfunding campaign… it was a SUCCESS!  & I cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am to you. Words cannot portray the love & gratitude I feel in my heart.

‘Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.’ Harriet Tubman

The truth is, it was a big risk {and scary as hell}, to put myself and my brand out there and just say ‘hey, I need your help’.

As mush as we say its ok to ask for help, how often do we? Yet instead most of us chose to act strong & like everything is perfect with our rose tinted glasses on.

I can honestly say, something had to change for me. This made my decision about the launching the campaign. I couldnt keep doing the little things I was doing, working harder not smarter and making slow progress (yes, progress is still progress). But I knew I was close to burn out.

‘Oh, I was never a businessman. I was a visionary, a dreamer.’ Jim Bakker

With my business, its never had a $ of investment, instead it was created from a need to pay my own living costs and grow itself. & truth be told I love this about my story. I dont even have a credit card so I can instead chose to grow organically. Now, this is great & all, but it can also mean that growth may be slower, or in my case I was struggling to keep up with the growth & needs of my clients (more so on a time limit).

So because of you, & my leap of faith, today Im sending of the brand new packaging to China for my first sample…

I AM IN LOVE…

What do you think? {The Muscle Ball range is Mint Green & the display box is Kraft cardboard}

You see, what you have done, by showing me love, pre ordering & sharing my campaign, is restore my faith (that was getting a little tired from hrs of exhausting myself & Adrenal Fatigue) that I am exactly where I need to be, doing exactly what I should be doing (my recent Angel reading also said this). Youve shown me that there is a need for a product like mine (1 year of business also shows this), and that together, we, the people can make a change. This is EXCITING.

You know just the other day I read an article that McDonalds is losing money… This is success. WE can create a change by learning to love ourselves and  make healthy changes. By learning to listen to our bodies. Instead of focusing on the things you dont like, focus on the things you do and all the good you are blessed with.

dreamer2

Because of the campaign success, I also decided its time to STEP up my game, and my own health so I can be the very best I can be. No more excuses. No more mistreatment of my body (too much sugar, not enough self love). Its time to honour the beautiful body I was created with & give it everything it needs to give me what I need. You eat well, you feel well…such a good circle.

For me, & for my business, but for you. Anyone that takes the time to read my blogs and share my journey with me.

Because I have BIG dreams & I believe in them with every essence of my being. YOU have given me a new opportunity to shine (I CANNOT WAIT TO RELEASE THE NEW PRODUCT).

dreamer3

And Im doing the work. So many people say they want to do their own thing, but their not prepared to do the work. Not prepared to get up an hr earlier, go to bed an hr later, say no to social engagements & commit themselves fully to their dream.

I am. The next 3 months I have given myself to do everything I can to bring a better & improved product & company to you. Regardless of the weekends missed, I know what Im running towards, the dreams that are becoming my reality. Im prepared to go without do my business can go with.

Can you see yours? Do you know where your going? What are you running towards???

Its so easy to get confused & off track, I mean theres so much competition out there & entrepreneurship isnt easy. But if you believe, even 2 steps forward, 1 step back…sideways or upside down…it doesnt matter. Your headed in the right direction. Trust, faith & believe in yourself always.

‘There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.’ Colin Powell

My current frame of mind is taking from one of the greatest businessmen in history; Henry Ford, who knew nothing about the Steel industry but built a team around him of people who were experts with what they knew so he could do what he did best. And its a pretty special place to be, to be able to have a business coach (who makes me do homework & get out of my own mind), a graphic designer to bring a professional product to you, a lawyer to get everything that needs to be done, done, an accountant to look after all my figures, an intern to do the little things and today interviewing staff for the kitchen, so I can do what I love doing & do best… including writing, coaching & being the dreamer I am.

‘Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.’ Gail Devers

I am blessed & grateful. Thank you.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Because together, we can make a change in the world.

My BIG Dream; The Clean Treats Factory

After careful consideration about sharing this with you, I felt that it was ok to, being in line with my brand beliefs, being real.

So today (for a long time really) I wanted to share with you the very thing that is making my heart beat to its own rhythm (even just the thought of it can increase my pulse rapidly), the very thing that keeps me awake at night, the thing that I spend countless hrs daydreaming/nightdreaming about, the thing that I can feel coursing through me veins…

The Clean Treats Factory.

{So yes, it will be Charlie & the Clean Treats Factory} And yes, I do think thats quite clever, the new age chocolate factory.

‘Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.’ Harriet Tubman

Kristie4

If you read my blogs, or follow me on social media you will have noticed Clean Treats is growing rapidly. Perhaps due to the #charliesballs (apparently people like to talk about #balls), or because the brand is so simple yet so effective, or because you support me {thank you}…either way…it is growing.

There comes a time in every business that you have to decide where you want to go and how you are going to get there.

Oh yes, that goal planning. From what I have heard and found, the best way to create and achieve these goals is to set your goal, your vision and work back from it, until you get to today.

What do you need to do today that will get you to where you want to be tomorrow, next year, 5 years time.

Today, I need to share this with you.

Are you a believer? Do you believe in magic? Do you believe that belief is the key essence to success?

To business? To life?

I do. I believe that this BIG dream will come true. You know why? Because Im not doing it for myself, Im doing it to create a healthy change in the world, to offer a safe place, a retreat, an escape away from the pressures of society. Im going to build this to say thank you to all the people who have supported me. It will be the peoples place, a sanctuary offering clean treats to honour your body, a place away from the chaotic stress we call our lives, a place just to be.

‘To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.’ Anatole France

So let me tell you about it…

As you know, I have #balls… (oh gosh always sounds silly), and recently slices (which keep selling out) and raw chocolates.

As you may also know I love to speak. to anyone that will listen (although very rarely in a social situation).

Im also a fitness/yoga junkie.

Put all these together & you have… The Clean Treats Factory.

“When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life.” – Greg Anderson

flowers2

A commercial kitchen that will allow the Clean Treats range to include everything from superfood salads to raw cakes, cookies and muffins (of course #balls) etc. All Gluten Free, Refined Sugar Free, Dairy Free & Vegan (some will be Paleo).

A garden cafe that you will have to walk through a Lavender filled path to enter (symbolising an escape and also working in a calming manner on the Central Nervous System) before entering an indoor/outdoor (think White, Peonies, rustic light wood, herbs, #charliestyle) cafe that will serve you everything on the Clean Treats menu (think decadent raw cakes, raw nachos, raw pad thai, delicate raw chocolates). Strategically placed trees that will be enjoyed with lighting and organic wine at night time (because wine IS good, especially organic & preservative free)

walkway2

Upstairs there will be a seminar room, used for meditation, community yoga (we all need to return to our mats/ourselves more) etc and a conference room with full catering.

And SO much more (that I cant really put out to the world).

This is my BIG dream.

And I BELIEVE.

With everything in me, around me, in the air I breathe that this will very soon be my reality.

cake10

Why? Because I know that every no is closer to the RIGHT yes.

Because I know that this will create a healthy change.

Because I just know.

Self Love Sunday; The cost of ambition

Do you know what it takes to be successful? Are you prepared to commit to your dream? Are you prepared to work for it? To give up weekends?

‘To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence.’ Mark Twain

p12

Ive been having some in-depth discussions lately about people, our different values, and different dreams.

These are the very things that make us all different and unique, yet also make it harder for us to connect to one another. Sometimes you can meet people and you just click, and sometimes you just don’t (and that s ok to).

Ive been speaking with some of my very close, trusted friends about this feeling of loneliness I have thats lingering (& growing) underneath all my dream chasing.

Just yesterday I said ‘I feel like I’m living in a world of my own’. Now, this is not meaning my world is better or worse than anyones, it was simply a statement revealing the truth, underneath my passion and purpose I am finding it hard to create or even manage my connections with people.

p14

My dream consumes me. And as much as I am about balance, I would rather spend my time working on it then out socializing. I just don’t seem to have a lot of patience for small talk, the negative things that most people have to say (listen carefully to your next conversation, how much good, inspiration are they speaking?).

I am hoping that this is just a phase of turning my dream into reality, because I am well aware of the connections we need with people. Friends, family, lovers, shared smiles; they are what make it all worth it.

‘Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to work. ‘ H. L Hunt

p11

So today, Self Love Sunday, I’m working on my priorities. You know its true, when people say they don’t have time, you can rest assured that the truth they are telling you is that they just don’t have time for you. People make time for what they want.

So, as we go into the silly season, events and invites are everywhere, and as easy as it is to get caught up and play the social butterfly, I need to create some time management systems for both my dream, my health/fitness and my social life. I need to set my priorities straight to ensure I am focused on my goals, whilst making some time for some love in my life.

‘Dont make people a priority if they only make you an option’ Unknown

Im going to make time for the people who make time for me. As unfortunate as it sounds its true. The ones that also make an effort. Friendship/love cant be created by one person (unless youve create a social media ‘stalking’ relationship they dont know about). Im done with chasing people.

‘The key is not to prioritise whats on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.’ Stephen Covey

p13

As my business grows, so to does the pressure (and amazing gratitude for the opportunities I am being given), of creating more success. So, if I have to be choosy with my time, its ok (trying to give myself a little mental break), because what I have to realise, and perhaps you do to, is not everyone gets these types of opportunities. Just recently I presented my BIG dream/proposal, regardless of the outcome I AM SO grateful I got the chance to do that, the biggest sales pitch of my entire life, for something I had created/will create.

‘Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.’ Swami Vivekananda

{I definitely feel the above #obsessed}

There are things/people in life that will either lift you higher or pull you down. Cultivate Self love to trust your decisions. Time is priceless. Do not spend it doing things that don’t make you happy, with people who don’t spark the passion in your soul.

Today, Self Love Sunday Im reflecting & evaluating my priority list to ensure I can use my time more wisely, with people who inspire me, who make my heart smile (also organising my business so I can become more time efficient, Ive kind of been going along with it, surprised at how something so small #charliesballs, could grow so quickly, and I now need to realise that it is real. Even though Im a small business I need to start big business thinking & strategic planning).

As I work weekends, different hrs of the day, I know that this is what it takes. I am cultivating an attitude that every no, is closer to a yes, every mistake is an opportunity. And Im prepared to do the work (just watch me).

A huge heart felt thank you to the people I can call my true friends who are in my life/holding my hand/putting up with my crazy work/dream/passion… Bali & cocktails soon 😉

A ‘Can do’ Attitude

Whether think you can or you think you can’t, your right.

Think positive thoughts, and positive things will happen. It sounds so simple, yet for some people it can be everything but.

I have lived a period of my life consumed by hate & negativity. Disgruntled at the situation I was in, feeling ‘victimised’ by the situations that occurred in my life, feeling the ‘poor me’ syndrome. Always  expecting someone to reach out, to help me and just make everything better.

I wasn’t wise enough, willing to look within, or ready to comprehend the power of self love and self assurance.

We can only live this way for so long.

Aren’t you sick and tired of being sick and tired??? Isn’t it time for a change?

bookimage

The power of the mind has been studied for centuries, and is receiving more and more recognition in recent years. There have been numerous best sellers (the secret), movies and motivational speakers (Anthony Robbins) that have created empires teaching people how to change their mindset and create the life they love. In a book Im currently reading {Authentic Success, Robert Holden}, ‘The universe, looks less and less like a great machine and more and more like a great thought.’ Modern scientists who study the new physics say that the essential ‘stuff’ of the universe is not atoms, but thoughts.’

Remember, we are creatures if habit. The power to change relies on the breaking of ‘bad/unsupportive’ habits. Negative thoughts are simply bad habits, thoughts you have created in response to situations, generally as a method to self protect/soothe.

Contemplate for a moment how amazing would it feel to break a negative, bad, makes you feel everything but good, habit?

We are all intricate individuals living busy lives, pursuing happiness. It is easy to be consumed by fear and negativity.

What if you actually reached that state of happiness…now? Do you think that would make you feel good? If in this very moment, you had a sense of well being, of peace, of serenity?

Yes…you would feel good, more then good (great I expect).

dec1

Happiness is everywhere…it is in the rising of the sun every morning to light your world, it is in the  breeze that circulates pollen to fertilise the flowers, the carbon that is removed &  oxygen that is released from trees to assist in our state of living, it is in the sun setting allowing the stars to shine bright in the night sky.

Are these gifts from Mother Nature not happiness? Have you taken a moment to wonder at the worlds natural beauty. To stop for a moment, breathe, relax. Calm your mind. Then deal with whatever situation you are in or that may have occurred.

Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside yourself. Greater than any obstacle.

judge4

A personal favourite mantra of mine (and I’m still learning to master this art); Respond, do not react.

We tend to react when we are acting in fear, of wanting to be right, from our ego, from a place of anger (any state that is opposite of calm).

We respond in a calm manner. Anger or negativity has subsided and we can communicate effectively.

Yes, still learning this (have been advised on many occasions, not to send ‘that’ email/text).

So, how can we break the bad habits of negative thoughts/affirmations…

‘Write it on your heart that everyday is going to be the best day of the year’ Ralph Wardo Emerson

Wake each morning with a feeling of gratitude. Be thankful for the day that you have been blessed with. Every day can be a GOOD day.

sali4

‘There is nothing good or bad, only thinking makes it so’ Hamlet

When a negative thought occurs in your mind, acknowledge it, and let it pass by. Pay absolutely no attention to it. Negative thoughts are affirmations, just negative. The more you repeat them, the more you focus on them, the larger they will grow and suddenly it will seem you are consumed, creating big problems over potentially nothing.

Understand that the thought will pass. The feeling that you are experiencing will pass. Refocus your mind. Think of something that sends warmth into your heart, a person or place that creates a feeling of wellness within you.

Plant seeds of positivity into your mind. Just like a garden those seeds will grow. Feed them, water them, nourish them. This may include activities hat make you feel good; reading, running, yoga…DO MORE of what makes you feel good.

Have faith that you can change your life for the better. Trust yourself. Believe.

‘The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude’ Oprah Winfrey

You can create the life you love, you just have to believe it.

My ‘Can do’ attitude was given to me by my Opa; dutch for grandfather. Who, at a very young age had us on his knee learning to drive (manual) tractors on the family farm (whether or not he was trying to teach us a lesson or train us to work on the farm/free labour, who knows?). To this day, he will remind me of my repetitive cries ÍCANT do it”. This man, who is everything any man or woman could look up to (moved to New Zealand during the war, away from family & friends and my beautiful Oma; dutch for grandmother, to create a life of opportunity, and our gorgeous family), did not believe in the words Í CANT’, so we just had to do it (I wasn’t very happy about it at the time I expect), but…I drove a manual tractor, into a few hedges but never the less, I DROVE. And to this very day I remember this lesson taught to me at a young age, if those horrendous words ‘I CANT’ enter my mind and I suffer from self doubt I hear his voice, You ‘CAN’.

*Id like to point out here, that it wasn’t about whether you drove into the hedge or the barn (a cousin of mine  has left her permanent mark), it was about trying.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Today I am choosing to be grateful that thorns have beautiful roses, rather then sad that the roses have thorns. There is good and bad in all things, let the good into your life, nourish it, and it will flourish. Believe it.

Monday Motivation…Noa Reis {Vie Activewear}

I have recently fallen in love.

With this years ‘must have’ fitness wear label …Vie Active

Today I would like to introduce you to Noa Ries, the co-founder of one of Australia’s premium activewear brands.

“You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Richard Bach

images-49

You are the co-founder of one of the hottest/sexiest fitness wear labels of the moment, what do you attribute this success to?

Firstly, thanks so much for the lovely compliment! It is so exciting to know that an idea that started as a vision and a concept for doing things differently is being responded to so well around the world. I think part of this is due to the fact that I used to be a personal trainer and I created the range with people who sweat for a living in mind.  Women who don’t want to compromise style for functionality.

10645261_10152850917408619_1890460981607152158_n

When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the health industry?

I’ve always been incredibly passionate about health and fitness.  I decided to become a personal trainer when my husband and I moved to Singapore in 2008 and its health & fitness have been embedded in my life ever since.

1391746_10152122922993619_673985858_nWhen did you decide to begin Vie active?

One afternoon I had an epiphany to create the range after realizing I was spending my LIFE in activewear and would often get to the end of the day feeling cold/clammy and really quite daggy! I set out on a mission to create truly technical activewear that would enable me to do an intense workout but would also be chic and stylish enough to wear all day long. Vie Active started with the finest quality Merino wool – an incredibly unique fabric and the ultimate performance fibre as it is naturally temperature regulating, anti-microbial, shape retaining, moisture wicking, odor resistant (I could really go on and on…..!). It’s not only super soft and breathable on your skin but it also allows you to be dry, stink-free, and just as comfortable after the most demanding run, yoga, or boot-camp session. From the beginning, we decided to push the envelope by integrating high definition prints into the Merino fabric to fuse fitness with fashion and function and as a result, our clothes truly do look and feel just as good on the studio as they do on the street.

“Faith is not desire. Faith is will. Desires are things that need to be satisfied, whereas will is a force. Will changes the space around us.” Paulo Coelho

How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?

Honoured and flattered beyond words.

Has there been any challenges along your journey?

Many! Manufacturing is by far our biggest challenge and I think our lack of experience in the fashion industry has been both a positive and a negative for us. On the one hand, its enabled us to think outside the square and push the envelope in terms of product development to envisage something that didn’t exist before (truly technical and fashionable performance wear that can be worn all day long). On the other hand, it’s been a very intense process to create this product and work with our suppliers and manufacturers to get it right and to the highest quality.

How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?

I try to do something active every day. More for my mental sanity than anything else. I do a combination of barre workouts, HIIT classes and walking my two daughters in the pram. I try to nourish my body with food that is as clean as possible simply to provide me with the energy I need to get through the day as with a 10 week old, a 2.5 year old and a new business my life is very hectic and busy!

What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

Hard work, putting the customer first (always), doing something you love.

‘To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.’ Steve Prefontaine

What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

Listen to your inner voice. Talk to other people you trust and develop your idea to the point that it’s a workable business concept. Don’t get paralysed by analysing, just go and do it!

What can we look forward to next from you?

Lots of new colours, and prints and some new styles plus lots more exciting health & fitness lifestyle content on our blog.

Top 3 healthy tips/advice?

  1. Be Active every day. Even if this means just going for a walk.
  2. Drink at least 2 litres of water each day
  3. Eat healthy fats and minimise sugar in your diet.

Share something no one knows…

I decided to train for and run a marathon after being told by a massage therapist that I didn’t have the “right body” for marathons. It hurt like hell (I couldn’t walk properly for 5 days) but guess what, I ran across the finish line!

“There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most truly alive.” Oprah Winfrey

I sincerely thank Noa for her time.

Monday Motivation… Kate Russell {Lululemon}

Its important we surround ourselves with people who inspire us. But to also remember that these people are real…chasing their dreams, following their passions {beating their own trials & tribulations}.

‘Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.’ Dalai Lama

This is why I believe its important to share love & support, lets celebrate the good things in life, the simple things like kindness.

Kate1

Introducing Kate Russell, Regional community manager, Eastern Australia and New Zealand lululemon athletica, and one of the kindest people you will meet.

Charlie: You have created a successful career within a leading fitness wear brand, Lululemon, what do you attribute this success to?

For me, passion drives success. I believe in creating the life you want to lead, regularly stepping out of your comfort zone to open up new opportunities.

On a daily basis, I’m lucky enough to coach teams to develop and execute events, build and connect relationships, discover the coolest events, places and people around, all in between a yoga or fitness class.

‘Be kind, dont judge and have respect for others. If we can all do this, the world would be a better place. The point is to teach this to the next generation.’ Jasmine Guinness.

k2

Charlie: When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the wellness industry?

I worked in technology and corporate PR (public relations) for six years and loved it. The adrenaline and ever changing nature of the PR world drove me, along with being surrounded by smart team members every day. However whilst I was immersed daily in a world of technology and business, it didn’t come naturally and I realised I was beginning to resent it.

In my spare time, I would read wellness blogs and constantly update my bucket list of things I wanted to achieve (most of which were fitness related!). It was no shock I loved leading a life full of fitness and health. I had a eureka moment one day and thought, imagine if I could combine my love of fitness with building relationships, connecting people and working with like-minded people? And from that moment, the job with lululemon was born.

It is crazy how when you put something out there, channel your positive energy to it, you can reach that goal (or in my case, my dream job).

Charlie: What inspired you to follow your passion?

There were two defining moments for me. The first one was after I was asked to write a blog for a close friend about my journey on training for a half marathon. My manager at the time read it and told me that I inspired her to focus on a goal and then go after it….hard! The second eureka moment was during a brainstorm in my old agency when we had to come up with three words to describe the person sitting next to you. My colleague described me as “enthusiastic, motivational and inspiring”. Those moments made me really think hard about finding a career where I could blend my strengths with my passion.

Charlie: How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?

I actually don’t see myself as being inspirational but if I’m to put a label on it, I guess I hope to see myself as more of an enabler – full of energy and a drive to create a life (work and personal) that I look forward to living. I try and pass that onto those around me. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with someone to work out what they want out of life and giving them the passion and enthusiasm to then go and get it.

Charlie: Has there been any challenges along your journey?

Absolutely. You can’t grow without falling down along the way. However it is how you pick yourself up and keep going that either makes or breaks you.

Charlie: How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?

I love this question because I always wanted to have a “job” that was doing what I loved every day, so therefore wasn’t really a job!  And this role at lululemon is absolutely that. I get to work out every day, trying new personal training and yoga studios around Sydney and connecting with driven people who love what they do.

I do also have a great friends around me that remind me when to ‘switch off’ because when you blend what you love with your job, it can be hard. Whether it’s going for a walk with a girlfriend to having lunch and a few glasses of wines, this balance is what keeps me grounded and successful at what I do.

k5

Charlie: What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

Identify your strengths and work out how you can use them every day; Network and create relationships with people who will grow and inspire you and then write a game plan of how you will reach that goal.

Also focus on attracting motivated people to create a culture that breeds success. Provide foundations for employees to build their skills, shape their career and essentially move from being good to being amazing.

‘A dream doesnt become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work’ Collin Powell.

Charlie: What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

Write that dream/goal/ career down. And then write down three steps on how you can achieve that (i.e. whether it’s saving $X per week or attend one new working event per month). Once it is down on paper, your mind will unconsciously start creating the path to reach that dream.

‘Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.’ Harriet Tubman

Charlie: What can we look forward to next from you?

k1

2014 is about taking myself on. Backing myself and taking risks. Getting even more out of my comfort zone.

It is an exciting year for lululemon and I’m ecstatic to be part of driving the company’s vision and brand in Australia and NZ. You will continue to see great technical athletic pieces for both women and men and innovative pieces that will help take you to and from your yoga and gym class.

Charlie: Top 3 healthy tips/advice?

  1. Be kind to your body; you only have one!
  2. Avoid classifying foods as “good” and bad”. Because the rebellion in us will always make us want the “bad” foods at some point
  3. Sweat every day; whether it is yoga or a HIIT session, get your body moving. Everyone loves that sweaty glow

I sincerly thank Kate for her time.

Heal your hurt; give more love.

It’s no doubt that we have all been hurt by people in our lives at some stage; family, friends, lovers.

It’s something I know we struggle with, the hurt, resentment, pain. How can we resolve issues that we are so sure we are RIGHT in without causing more conflict? As a very personal person {believe it or not but I do like to keep my most inner musings to myself and express through writing}, I find it has become difficult to communicate our true intentions. (Most of the time letting go of the need to be in the RIGHT, will resolve any issue).

Though we live in a world where technology allows us to communicate in a mere moment, how often is it effective? How often are you expressing your true feelings, needs and thoughts? I know for myself, at least once a day I’m confused of the subtext and the context of text. Reading on the lines, between the lines…and then deciphering those emojiis.

I am beginning to understand the true power of love and release. Of being able to just let go (believe me as a traditional over analysing personality type, a person who wants to know all the whys and hows, this has been a learning curve for me). What I have found to be true, and it’s working for me, if somebody hurts you, disrespects you or treats you in a manner not aligned with your beliefs {basically in not a good way}, as much as you feel anger, hurt, sadness or pain…change those feelings with conscious thoughts of love.

‘Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love’. Lao Tzu

It can be hard but it’s not impossible. Change your energy, and intention and instead of focusing on the bad, the words that have been said, the situation that has occurred, realise that they are only people who are doing the best they can with what they have, just like you… And send them love. Not hate. And let it go.

‘You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving’. Robert Louis Stevenson

This is a process and practice I am working on personally, and I have found it much better to be a giver of love rather than a creator of ill will. You can change the world that you live in by simply changing your thoughts. If you find it difficult to change from such negativity to positivity research ways that you can express yourself, via writing, fitness, reading, music…

There are many ways to release and remove bad feelings, just find what works for you. For me, if someone does something to me or acts towards me in a way I’m not quite comfortable with, Ive started my ‘give more love’ process by imagining all the good things about that person, letting go of judgement and thoughts of ‘why’, then I create love, energy and light in my heart and send it to them. Wish them well. Then I let go. Sometimes some people aren’t meant to be in our lives.

‘Give love, then forget that you gave it’ Sun Myong Moon

Use acts of self-love to tune into the environment you want to create by the people you surround yourself with. We are a product of that environment.

Do you have deep connections or are your conversations filled with what happened in a nightclub on the weekend? Or are those conversations always negative?

As I create my dream reality I’m finding myself drawn to others who are living their own passion, those who are thankful for each day, the dreamers, the opportunity makers…they make me want to be more…to believe in myself, to be a game changer, they inspire me and my soul delights in them.

‘Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.’ Khalil Gibran

Let love create your world. Speak words of beauty and act with intention. Let go of anything that is not creating a better world for you and in turn for them. Use love to overcome the feelings that will only bring you down; hate, hurt, pain, envy, jealousy…and remove them from your heart {remember it is ok to feel these emotions, I’m purely suggesting you don’t keep your intentions focused on them and instead, change your focus and thoughts to the most powerful feeling of all, love}

Monday Motivation…Kim Peirce (BabeScrub)

Did you wake up this morning with the opportunity to chase your dreams? Or excited thoughts of ‘what change will I create today?’ Gratefully, I did.

‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.’ Eleanor Roosevelt

I can honestly say that I am doing the work, every day…choosing my thoughts, actively changing automatic negative thoughts (ANT’s) to beautiful positive seeds. I am working on the garden of my mind…everyday. You can to. It just takes small steps, thoughts & actions every day. But you have to do the work.

One of those actions is to surround yourself with people who inspire you (otherwise they will drain you). I’m happy to introduce you to one of own personal sources of inspiration…Kim Peirce, entrepreneur & creator of Babe Scrub. As much as you can control your own thoughts and actions, you are still a product of your environment, so make sure its a good one! (I create my environment with the dream chasers, the believers, the opportunity makers).

Charlie: You are the creator of Babe Scrub, an in demand, ‘must have’ product. What do you attribute this success to?

I’ve always been entrepreneurial and for a long time used this skill set to benefit the organisations I worked for! Two years ago I gave up my career in the corporate world to pursue my own entrepreneurial ventures and in this light, my success as an entrepreneur is founded on an inherent belief in myself. As Beyonce famously said “I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself”.

babes5

This belief, served with a shitload of tenacity, and sprinkled with an openness to try anything is definitely the formula for my success!

Charlie: When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the wellness industry?

My last job in the oil & gas and mining industry required travelling every month to all corners of the earth, leaving my children behind, and passing my husband like ships in the night. It was grueling. A weekend visit to Gwinganna Health Retreat in QLD was the catalyst for taking the step out of corporate and into the wellness and lifestyle industry.

Charlie: What inspired you to follow your passion?

Reading Tim Ferris’s 4Hr Work Week!

Charlie: How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?

On some level, we all inspire others in different ways. Encouragement is sometimes all that is needed to inspire others to take action, and this is a beautiful gift to give from ourselves to those around us.

Charlie: Has there been any challenges along your journey?

I was a single mum when I took my first major career pivot deciding to go to university full time to get my undergraduate degree. Bringing two little babies under the age of 3 to university with me to my lectures and trying to keep them occupied under the desk while writing my essays was a challenge for sure, but it just made me more determined to succeed and I would not be where I am today without making that happen all those years ago.

Charlie: How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?

I begin every day with a walk early in the morning before I have to engage with anyone – including family! It helps me get my mind right and clear my thoughts for each day! It also helps me open my eyes!

‘Hope is the dream of the waking man.’ French Proverb

Charlie: What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

Determination. Manners. Determination. Educating yourself. Determination. Manners!

Charlie: What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

Start NOW!

‘Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.’ Harriet Tubman

Charlie: What can we look forward to next from you?

We have a new line coming out in the next couple of months as well as an extension to the Babescrub range. Yey!

Charlie: Top 3 healthy tips/advice?

#1 Move your body.

#2 Drink buckets of water but not just before, during or just after meals.

#3 Meditate.

Monday Motivation…Sali Stevanja {Stylerunner}

Last night I was reading Napoleon Hill; the necessary steps to success are:

3. A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences. 4. A Friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose. As I thought about these words I began to think about the world I live in & the people in it.

I have made no secret of the fact that I love the deep meaningful conversations about passion and purpose, meeting and talking with people with their own souls alight as they talk about their own pursuit of happiness, or what they are doing to create a change in the world. I was pleasantly astounded when I realised that most of the people who I connect with as I change my own life, are entrepreneurs, or working for themselves, following their own passion and creating their own dream reality {WOW, I felt incredibly lucky}.

It has been said to be the era of the entrepreneur.

I am in awe of the capacity of these people, in particular one who I was lucky enough to meet {as a single woman, trying to create my own business, this woman is a role model to me}….Sali Stevanja Co-Founder of the popular Fitness Fashion online retailer; Stylerunner.

sali7

You have created a rapidly growing online fashion store, the ‘go to’ for the latest fitness fashion what do you attribute this success to?

There are so many contributing factors but I believe the fact that Julie and I started the business as passionate consumers is a huge part, we are always thinking of the customer with every decision we make.

“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” Steve Prefontaine

When did you decide to you wanted to be involved in the fitness & fashion industry?

Living a healthy balanced life became really important once I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer back in 2008. I was young and with no family history of any illness I unknowingly took my health for granted. Julie was pretty much born to shop and once we noticed a gap in the market it was as if we just knew this was the space we belonged in. We quit our jobs and spent 4 months on setting up the business.

How do you feel as an inspirational figure/mentor?

It is still somewhat surreal. It is one of the most rewarding parts of what we have created. We get so many emails and messages from women who have been inspired to live healthier lives and they send through amazing progress pics which we love to see. We also get a lot of letters from both men and women young and old wanting advice on how to start up a business or even just letters of thanks to say, you girls have given me the courage to chase my dreams. It is beyond rewarding for us to see that our hard work is not just about creating a successful business but about inspiring others to chase their dreams no matter how small or big.

sali3

Has there been any challenges along your journey?

Haha – dating..does that count? It’s impossible to date or be social when you are in the start up years of a business. That has definitely been a challenge!

{Charlie: I definitely know about this}

“If you want to be comfortable, don’t try to live your dreams.” Emily Trinkaus

How do you maintain balance between your Career and personal health?

It really is just about being conscious of what your body needs. There are times where we can work without a single day off for weeks at a time, sometimes working insane hours because that is just what needs to be done at the time but when our body is crying for a rest we listen. If that means taking a day off midweek we do.

“You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Richard Bach

sali4

What do you believe are the keys to success in business?

Stamina and resilience. I knew how tough starting a business would be before we started Stylerunner but I had no idea just how tough. It goes beyond no sleep, long hours, having to say no to all your friends social events because you need to work etc. Still your passion has to be greater than the hard work required to make it a success and if you have that in you … it might be tough but it is definitely worth it.

babes1

What is your advice for anyone who has a dream?

Don’t wait for the perfect moment to get started … just start.

‘Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.’ Norman Vincent Peale

Top 3 healthy tips/advice?

I always start my day with a shot of Olive Leaf extract – it helps with my immune system

Get regular massages…not only do they feel good they help release toxins from your system

Treat yourself. I believe in balance. I generally eat pretty clean but if I feel like a piece of chocolate or cake I will allow myself to have it. I don’t believe in depriving myself or saying I can’t have this or that, I rather try and focus on what I can/should be eating that is healthy and wholesome.

Your top 3 tips for fitness fashion?

Be bold. Try and step away from safe basics and embrace a print. Prints are the current must have.

{Sali wears the absolutely stunning BSC tights, about to be released…I have my name on the waiting list}

Learn how to be versatile with your gym gear. Mix your activewear with pieces from your wardrobe, like wear one of our adidas by Stella McCartney studio sweatshirts with a pair of jeans and you now have activewear that is not just for wearing to the gym but for also catching up with girlfriends for coffee or going shopping.

If you love wearing black on black like me try and add a pop of colour with some super cool coloured kicks. Currently I am obsessed with our Nike Air Max 2014 in Lightning Red / Green

Share something no one knows…

That is pretty hard … I’m somewhat of an open book so there is not a lot that people don’t know about… Let me see… I wake up at 5.22am every morning because my competitor once said she gets up at 5.30am.

{I just LOVE this!}

I sincerely thank Sali for her time.

It is our light that most frightens us…

After a long weekend spent with friends and also working (when you work for yourself, all days are the same and there are no days off/love it), I was genuinely surprised by the love and support, the genuine appreciation for what I am doing with Clean Treats aka #charliesballs. I was even told ‘Im so proud of you’.

I felt my heart warm. Wow. I had created a product that people not only enjoyed, that was healthy but that they wanted to be a part of, they wanted to support me (thank you to everyone who has done their own Instagram & facebook posts for me… #ballers),.

Now, as you now, we all have our own self belief expectations, a place of success that is comfortable, that is aligned with what we believe about ourselves.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.’ Marianne Williamson

When we start to push that barrier, it can become scary. Last night at 12pm I suffered an anxiety attack. Its been awhile since I have felt this ‘on edge’, unsatisfied, uncomfortable feeling. I was a little thrown. My Negative thoughts started to occur…

Who do you think you are?

Youll never make it.

It wont be good enough.

Youll do it wrong. Something will go wrong.

You dont deserve such happiness.

And so on.

OUCH. I remember these feelings and thoughts, and they hurt. Where had they come from? Id spent a weekend with people telling me how much love they had for me and how amazing #charliesballs were.

1185611_626129200742025_22125231_n

Expectations.

Fear of failure. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of being truly great. The fear of risk.

‘Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.’

I had also spent the weekend finalising my packaging designs, nutritional information and some fun admin things…I had to make the bIG decisons, on my own. I really had to find my own sense of self trust to invest in what I thought was right, although it may be wrong…this was scary! I felt excited but I also felt the pressure.

We often fear things that arent even real, we create situations in our mind that arent based on  facts and start to indulge in a world based around these unreal facts. I realise for myself, I am scared. Its ok to admit it. Im scared, excited, nervous and grateful for the opportunity that has been presented to me.

Do I feel supported, yes and no. Every person I meet will give me their opinion, even when its not asked for, but is this the same as working with someone, a lover, a business partner and making those difficult decisions together, no.

So anxiety, where does it come from? For me, its the thought of the unkown (a little bit ironic that I have chosen to work for  myself and chase my dreams where everyday is different to before), the insecurity. I am creating something that some people will love, some will like and some wont. I have to be prepared.

We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson

I had to self soothe with all the powerful affirmations I have learnt…

Everything will be ok. I love you. Trust the process. What is meant to be will be. You can do it. BREATHE (I had to actively practice my breathing technique…4 counts in hold, 4 counts out, hold & repeat).

sls3

I just didnt know what to do with myself. I started to create a world of what ifs, and felt my thoughts spiralling downhill, fast.

I have recently discovered a ‘Sleep Remedy’ product by Healthy Essentials, it contains Magnesium (excellent for hormonal balance & sleep), Lemon Balm (historically used to relieve anxiety & promote sleep) and Zizyphus (Traditional chinese herb, sleep inducing and healing properties). I normally take this at tnight as my mind likes to wander, get creative and plan for my wonderful future. Did I take it alst night before I felt anxious, no. Did I run and take a little bit extra…yes…then sleep.

The purpose of todays writing, is to show you I am real. Yes I am a dreamer, I love living in my own world, but reality does affect me, just as it affects us all. Social media, men, lovers,  (the search for the right one), friendships, finances, we can worry about these factors, but the truth is worry is just a wish you are making. Where you focus your intention, energy goes.

If you feel anxious, sad, lonely…its ok to feel that. FOr me, its a sign of how much I care…my heart and my soul are invested in doing something good. Find your own SOS kit that you can reach to…Lavender essential oil, calming music ( I love James Vincent McMorrow…Higher Love).

Then dust it off. It was only a thought, only an emotion and its gone. Today is a new day, a day to make magic happen. Today, I am going to be the best I can be.
