Pay it Forward

Today is Pay it Forward day…

‘My religion is simple, my religion is kindness’ Dalai Lama

A day where we should be giving someone some love, helping someone or doing a kind deed (really should be every day I think).

‘Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions nad prejudices, and your real calibre is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others’ William J.H. Boetcker

Have you ever had someone open a door for you when your hands are full? Had a random stranger compliment you (I still remmeber the day I was in a chemist waiting for a meeting and a kind elderly woman complimented my outfit and my composure…5 years ago)? Ever received a gift from someone unexpectedly? Perhaps even had someone let you in traffic? (Kindness doesnt have to be grandeur)

How did you feel? These are the little things (they dont have to cost a crazy amount, or anything at all) that can make a difference.

‘Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change.’ Bob Kerrey

I know personally, they create a feeling of ‘good’, of peace, of connection with the world, hope, possibility and kindness. That there are good people in the world afterall. That life isnt about whats happening tomorrow, what your eating for your next meal…life is about being a good human and sharing your passion and purpose with as many people as you can.

Leave people better than they were after they have talked with you. We need to re connect, to listen, to show compassion for one another, otherwise well all be here chasing instagram likes, the latest designer outfits, more fake face plumping and left wondering why we arent actually happy?

When was the last time you shared love? Complimented someone, let someone have the seat on the bus, helped someone with their boxes/bags (honestly every day Im weighed down with stock, struggling to open doors, and no men ever offer to help?! (maybe I’m not wearing enough makeup on those days, sad but true).

Then theres other days, like recently when Ive been at events (with my #balls of course) and someone hasnt had quite enough $$$ to buy a pack, so the kind lovely person next to her, purchased them and gave them to her… heartmelt moment (I then also put extra in her pack as a thank you/your too kind).

‘We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness’ Charlie Chaplin

So today fo Pay it Forward day…do something good…for someone…anyone, regardless if you know them or not. In fact it’s always a pleasant surprise when its a stranger.

Send some one  a love letter, send a message of love to the world.

Speak to the person at the supermarket, smile at the young girl who serves you coffee…make small talk about the weather, say please, and thank you, ‘have a good day’…these are the small things that we are losing in our fast paced world, the things that matter. That connect us.

I also know that when kindness has been given/shown to me…I then feel good about myself and continue to share this with the people I go on to connect with. An attitude of gratitude is the key to happiness.

‘You can have everything you want in life if you just help enough people get what they want in life’ Zig Ziglar

{This is my personal mantra nad belief for my business and my life}

What will you do today to make someones day a little brighter?

Love, Charlie x.

So, so grateful beyond words that my project is nearly at 50%…if you would like to share love with me…and pre order my new #balls, check out my campaign:

Authentic Success

Are you waiting until you  the hot husband, the white range rover, the multi million $ house to feel successful?

Would you believe me if I said you are already successful with everything you have; right now, in this exact moment?

‘Dont aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.’ David Frost

Would you feel it?

So what if you dont have all the things society says you should.

Success is what you make of it. The definition means; the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

So what is your aim, what is your purpose?

For me, my purpose is to share love, daily, to create change in the world. To inspire just one person with my thoughts and actions, and with Clean Treats, its the fact that just one choice {#charliesballs} is a healthier choice for one person. Its these small daily healthy habits that can create change.

‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.’ {Mother Theresa}

This is my business & brand belief.

‘Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscle, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.’ Swami Vivekananda

If you take a moment to breathe, be still and reflect on the true beauty that is in your life…Im pretty sure you’ll see success.

Ive recently felt my heart hurt a little from both old and new love, and instead of feeling that I will always be unsuccessful in relationships, Im trying to find peace and calm with the great relationships/friendships I have built.  I’ve been quite overwhelmed with the love and support of my close friends…and arent friendships still a relationship with others? Although it may not be romantical love, its still a relationship between 2 people and Im choosing to value these; this is success (rather than create stress and drama in my life, with ‘I will never have a good relationship/marriage’ thinking).

‘To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence. Mark Twain

What we focus on grows. Im not saying its ok to just be happy where you are in life, Im a big believer in pushing yourself, getting outside of your comfort zone and really finding what makes you happy, but instead of chasing success, or making the statement we’ve all to often heard, or say to ourselves ‘ Ill be happy when…’, why not find happiness now, in this present moment? Actively change your thoughts to appreciate all the blessings you have.

This is the happiness trap.

Be happy now with what you have whilst working for all that you dream of.

Stop comparing where you are on your own journey to where other people are. Comparison really is the thief of all joy. Thats their life, not yours and as glamourous/perfect it can appear to be on their ‘highlight reel’ (social media), I can promise you, it’s not. We all have our own challenges and fears. Its our decision whether we choose to work through and overcome them or let them get the better of us.

‘Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.’ Winston Churchill

Success, it’s about being ok with who you are, where you have been and where you are going.

‘Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.’ Bruce Lee

Being grateful (yes, everything I do always comes back to my ‘attitude of gratitude’ belief) for every perfect and not so perfect thing in your life. The bad happens so we can appreciate the good, the dark comes before the light, and mistakes are just proof that you are trying.

‘Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.’ Albert Einstein

What is your greatest success?

Love & light, Charlie x.

Today I am so so grateful for the time and love I have invested into the world around me, my relationships, because in my time of need/hurt I’ve been shown what true success is…love.

My past does not define me.

I recently went home; Mt Maunganui in New Zealand.

As a 30 year old returning to the streets I used to roam, where I used to cause havoc, I realised I am no longer that person and I will not let my past define me.

I choose to be thankful for everything I was ever given, for the things that I wasnt.

I am grateful I experienced the life I did, the things that occurred, because they make me the person I am today…

I am not a victim to my past.

I will make conscious choices everyday to live the best life that I can.

Love & light, Charlie x.

The reason I returned home was to celebrate my Oma & Opas 60th/Diamond wedding anniversary. Such a special love, an incredibly beautiful day.

The contributors; my thanks

Thankful Thursday, I wanted to take this opportunity to send my heartfelt gratitude to the contributors of Live a life you love.

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” Thornton Wilder

Live a life you love includes over 40 healthy recipes, quotes and inspirational stories.

“For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, for love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.”Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am a big believer in treating other people how you want to be treated, in giving more of what we want in our own lives. Send it out to the universe and it/whatever it is will come back to you, this I know.

My business motto is help as many people as you can get what they want, and then you will get what you want (A Zig ziglar quote). I have found that when approaching people to be contributors and collaborate not everyone had this same thought or feeling. I can understand. In a business sense where you have to try and make your own mark, individuality is rare and imitation easy.

Sometimes we each lose our way, or can feel like we are drowning in an ocean of ‘cants’ or problems. Each one of the contributors has personally touched my life in someway, as an inspiration, a kind word in my time of need or a shoulder to lean on.

‘At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.’ Albert Schweitzer

So, for those that did contribute and wanted to share their own little piece of magic in my book…thank you.

Self Love Sunday..give thanks.

Self love Sunday, the day of the week to truly do something for you.

Today, Im taking a moment to stop and give thanks. Ive been so busy creating change, falling in love with my life and taking every opportunity presented to me, I wanted to thank myself for everything (good and bad) that I am creating.

‘Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.’ Epicurus

How often to we ever just say ‘thank you’?

Thank you for:

Choosing healthier foods today.

Thank you for exercising.

Thank you for reading motivational quotes/books.

Thank you for having that difficult conversation.

Thank you for living in the moment.

Thank you for letting go of the past.

Thank you for taking the extra time to care for yourself.

‘When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.’ Tecumseh

Take a moment to appreciate yourself. I understand that to live your life well is hard work, it takes daily dedication, daily thought changing and consistence. But it is worth it.

Take a moment to say thank you for all the hard work you are doing to live a better life, to become the best version of yourself. This is not acting with your ego, this is an act of self love. We strive to feel appreciated by others for the things we do for them, why dont we appreciate all the things we do for ourselves for a moment?

By honouring our commitment and appreciating our effort we begin to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Something that we can always have more of. Gratitude for everything in our life, for everything we are blessed with. Even, the things you determine are ‘bad’, you have created them for a reason, to learn something or from a need within you. Be grateful.

‘Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, know that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.’ Brian Tracy

I know this may feel a little selfish, but its important to feel a sense of accomplishment and achievement when you are creating change in your life. Accept that where you are is in your life, is exactly where you should be, and appreciate that every small healthy habit, every small positive thought is a step towards living the life you dream of.

When something good happens, think a thankful thought.

Thank you for allowing good into your life. Thank you for creating opportunities. Thank you for choosing positive thoughts.

“We don’t realize that, somewhere within us all, there does exist a supreme self who is eternally at peace.”
―Elizabeth Gilbert

Today, Im thankful for opening my heart (my biggest fear), and allowing new opportunities into my life.

Love & light, Charlie x.

(Just) be nice. Simple.

When was the last time you told someone they were amazing just because they are? When was the last time you told someone you cared? For absolutely no reason, but just to let them know?

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” Thornton Wilder

One of my life’s mottos that I try to practice everyday…its the little things that matter.

Every small act of kindness, smile or kind word can make a world of difference (sometimes you may not even realise how much). If being nice can mean so much, why are we so reluctant to act this way?

Instead we choose negativity, jealousy and gossip to mask our inner insecurities.

Does saying a kind word to someone mean that they are above you, you are beneath them or you are less? Not at all. Lift other people higher, you will find you will be lifted. Fill yourself with gratitude for every little thing, every person you have in your life, for you are blessed, exactly as your life is right now. Just say thank you. Thank you to the people who have held your hand along the way, to people whom you may not know but that have impacted your life.

I’m lucky enough to receive thankful messages and I can honestly say it fills my heart with love, with pure happiness that somewhere, someday I have done something that has caused another person some form of happiness, enough that they have expressed their gratitude. This gives me strength to continue. Your words could be the difference between someones day being good or bad.

‘He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” Epictetus

Today I took a few moments to let some people know what they meant to me. A writer who inspires me with her work daily, I wrote a little love note, with no thoughts but to let her know how much she inspires me. A close friend who lifts me so much higher than I thought possible, without her I can honestly say I would be where I am today. Another friend who I cannot wait to spend some time sharing some love on our date  night.

These are such small acts of gratitude, of giving thanks, but the responses I received (the smiles I felt were given) filled my heart with warmth.

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”  Marcel Proust

So simple.

Lift people higher. Say something nice. When was the last time you told someone they looked nice? A friend, a random stranger, someone you walk past everyday on your rush to the gym.

Hold a door open for someone. These are the little things that make the most impact.

Do you life a life on social media that’s filled with glamour and perceived success? If people were to meet you would your actions reflect the person you perceive to be?

‘Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every moment with love, grace and gratitude.’ Denis Waitley

Why not take a moment today to say thank you. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for being in my life.

These are the moments that matter and you never know when it will be too late. Say the words your fearful of saying. why are you afraid to show you care? Wear your heart on your sleeve a little bit.

What you give you get back (I believe you receive much more). Give freely. The feeling I received after sharing some love and kindness was purely priceless.

Be the person you want to be.

Be love. Be kind. Be grateful.

Love & light, Charlie x.

‘Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.’ Henry Van Dyke

Sunday Self Love; SLOW down

With so much change occurring in my life; taking the leap to work for myself doing what I love, I have been filled with so much excitement and nervously (graciously) overwhelmed with disbelief about how quickly it is happening for me. I’ve been finding it hard to return to myself, to be calm, and be still.

‘You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside’.

IMG_0110I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a master class with Nicole Walsh (absolutely amazing and accredited with years of experience) at Flow Athletic today (perhaps the owner Kate knew I was needing it 😉

After a morning working away at my love/hate affair with In design (trying to get the images for the second book edit complete), I was well aware I needed a break. Research shows you are productive for a period of no longer than 90 minutes, then its best to walk away and do something else (this can be hard to do when you feel the pressure of a deadline/to do list). In fact professional musicians and athletes alike will train intensely for this period of time, rest then return and train/practise again.

I decided I needed the well deserved break and the master class; unwind & let go (even the name sounded exactly perfect for what I was needing) was a perfect reason for one.

As we were welcomed by Nicole, I couldn’t help but be in awe of this beautiful woman, she had something inside of her, a warmth, kindness, love that radiated out. There was an instant feeling of calm being in her class, and as she mentioned that we wouldn’t be doing any intense asanas (a slight sigh of relief on a sunday afternoon), but we would be returning to the breath, to calm our nervous system and be still.

I wasnt quite sure what to expect, 2 hrs of breathing? I must admit, I have  been dedicated to my yoga practice (5 x per week for 2 whole weeks! Yes, a little proud) I was nervously anticipating the 2 hr class, I wasnt to sure how I would actually manage (I was feeling slightly sore after personal training the day prior).

Nicole opened the class with a humming breathing technique; Bhramari Pranayama (Bee breath). I’ve never practised this, or heard of it before, but my goodness, how pretty, it felt so soft on the throat, and so soft on the ears.

As Nicole guided us with her gentle voice through gentle asanas (postures), we were reminded to return to the breath at all times. In a way of meditation; mediation does not mean to not think, (you can never not think, but it means to focus your thought and be aware), so always returning our focus to the breath whilst feeling the body relax (sometimes breathing into the fire/stretch) and wind down.

The  class was over before I knew it! There was a relaxation period to promote Yogic sleep, and Im still unsure if I fell into this yogic sleep (not actually asleep) or if I actually fell completely asleep.

‎”The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind & the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” ~ B.K.S. Iyengar

When I left the class it felt as though I was floating on air, (even thought it was an earthing/grounding class), I felt a certain freedom, perhaps as though the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders, I was present in the moment and it felt like I was free.

“Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists.”

Todays self-love remember to be calm. To be still can be as effective as to be chaotic/busy trying to get things done. In actual fact, spending some time rewarding your mind-body and soul works in a regenerative manner, and can benefit that ‘to do’ list you feel is weighing you down.

IMG_0190Take some time out. Your body, your mind will love you for it (and we love a little self loving)

Love & light, Charlie x.

If you would like to try yoga, my suggestion is find a good studio, I LOVE

If you would like to be inspired and do a little more, follow Nicole:

Thank you Nicole & Kate for having me in class x.

Be Kind…

When was the last time you gave a kind word or compliment to a loved one? To a colleague? To a stranger?

When was the last time you received unexpected kindness? How did it make you feel?

photu 4bu7h4o

Today, I want to promote the art of giving without expecting.

Share a random act of Kindness today without expecting anything in return (you will be surprised at how you are rewarded).

I have found that when we give, and expect in return, this only leads to disappointment. Our expectations may be to high, or we may have placed an overwhelming importance on the reciprocation, only to be let down when we don’t receive what we ‘feel’ we deserve.

Give without expecting. (expect less and you will receive more).

*Pay a stranger a compliment, reach out to someone you have lost contact with. Let your loved ones know they are loved. Say the words.

All to often we think people know how we feel, or take people in our life for granted. Today, take a moment to show appreciation to those whom you love, family, friends, lovers. You may be surprised by how a small gesture of true kindness can make their day.

Then, as is the nature of the universe, that person will continue on their day/life feeling good, and hopefully they pass on the kindness.

So, one small act of kindness can go a long way in generating a positive place for us all to be in.

When we send out love, it truly is returned to us in more ways then one.

If you want more of something, first you have to give it.

Give love, allow kindness and positivity into your life. Create a life filled with everything you dream of.

Just for today, try to smile at random strangers, see how many you can receive (yes, some people may just think you are slightly crazy), if they don’t smile back, it DOESNT matter. Continue along your merry way.

Just (please) experiment today and see how good you actually feel (from the inside).

A smile is free.

My thankful Thursday thought to you:

Love & light, Charlie x.
