Integrity; a pretty quality

Integrity, such a powerful word, yet not many know the true meaning.

Integrity: {noun}

The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

‘Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did or not’. Oprah Winfrey

I have chosen to focus my intentions on acting with integrity.

Being who I say I am, doing what I say Ill do.

Integrity is having ethics; morals and being trustworthy. Doing exactly what you say you will, when you say you will and  living a life exactly as you say you do. Basically, practising what you preach.

If you follow me & my journey, I am a do-er, I make my mind up about something and just get it done (and figure the logistics out later, I have researched this ‘just do it’ trait and apparently its good for entrepreneurs, thankfully), Im a hopeless romantic (I choose to believe the words I hear & that everyone is truly ‘good’), and I also suffer depression/self sabotage (yes, my days are very interesting!).

‘Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity’. W. Clement Stone

I use alot of powerful quotes everyday, romantic poems & invest my time reading in physiology, because it intrigues me as I only want to be a better person, for myself and those around me (one day my own family), yet on several occasions I find myself acting with my emotions even though I have the best intentions, speaking words that shouldnt be said and over analysing/acting with fear, hurt & ego.

For these reasons I am choosing to actively focus on this quality that few really possess; Integrity.

I want to be a woman of my word. That does not mean Im perfect, or I ever will be, it simply means that I will actively try to focus my intention on being as good as I say I am. On actively acting with integrity, not fear, hurt, anger.

Thought: If you were as valuable as your word, how valuable would you be?

‘Be impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. ‘ Miguel Angel Ruiz

If you want to live a life with happiness; it is essential to act with integrity. To speak and live your truth. (Why I classified it a ‘ pretty’ quality).

Integrity means to honour your word. Can people trust you? Are you responsible? Reliable? Integrity as a quality means that you do the right thing and people find you trustworthy and reliable (important characteristics for any relationship/lovers or friends) . Integrity means that you are honest, about yourself, everything that you are, who you want to be,  and who you have been.

Be true to you…

What are your morals? What do you believe in (Respect, honesty, trust)?  To truly act with integrity you must know what your morals are.

Do you believe in treating people with respect yet are disrespectful to those around you?

Do you always say you will do something, that never seems to get done? Do you always commit yet never seem to follow through? (We are all guilty of this, especially via social media)

Integrity is about being true to yourself, to who you are, knowing what you belive in and acting it out everyday.

‘The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty. ‘Zig Ziglar’

For some us, we are still on the journey to discovering our true selves…(there is no rush it can be a life long beautiful journey). If you are unsure about your morals and ethics take some time, on your own, and reflect, what do you believe in? Once you know what it is that you believe in, what you desire from life, the person you want to be, you can consciously act with integrity every day.

‘Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. ‘Ralph Waldo Emerson

The more I am focusing on acting with integrity, the stronger relationships I am building and the better  my life is becoming.  If I say I will do something, I will (reliability). If I’m unsure that I can, I will say so (honesty).

Be honest with those around you, its much better then over committing and being  a disappointment.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Everyday do something that makes you a better person, you are your only competition, just be better than yesterday 🙂

The Skin Expert…Your skin.

Today I wanted to introduce you to the gorgeous creation that is your integumentary system; your skin.

All to often we take our skin for granted yet get upset when we get fine lines, acne, spots (especially on those special dates). We have high expectations of healthy, glowing radiant, perfect skin, yet what are you doing to enjoy this?

skini2

The Integumentary system is the largest body in the organ, however it often doesn’t receive the nutrients it requires as the internal organs will take what they need first.

The skin has responsibilities such as touch, pain, temperature, absorption and excretion all of which play a detrimental part to our internal and physical health. It also protects us against that nasty stuff called bacteria and other foreign objects.

The skin will show you what is happening internally. In the true manner of Chinese face reading you can decipher what is happening in the body but also the mind {I offer this via Skype, please email me Charlie@charliedehaas.com.au} via skin reading.
skini4

Your skin consists of 2 layers the dermis (inner, consists of 2 layers) and the epidermis (the outer layer), consists of 5 layers.

From the Epidermis Our skin cells turnover (desquamate) approx every 28-35 days, this process slows down as we age, as do all of our systems.

At the basal layer, we have happy healthy skin cells, juicy, fresh, radiant. They are fed nutrients and oxygen via the dermis (Melanin, the colour pigment in our skin is also found in the basal layer in Melanocytes). As the desquamation process occurs, these cells start to move upwards towards the outer layers of the skin and begin to die (you shed approximately 30,000+ cells every minute). The dont receive as much nourishment from the dermis as the capillary (blood/delivery system) network starts to diminish. As the cells reach the outer layer, they are dead.

skini1

Throughout the epidermis changes occur to the skin cells, this is where pigmentation (can sometimes also be found deeper), acne, skin sensitivities and cell mutations (cancer).

It is imperative we do what we can to protect the integrity of the skin.

We can do this by nourishing from the inside, ensuring we have nutrient dense food in our diets to feed the skin, an also from the outside with delivery systems of effective products.

Skin cells require:

WATER…drink more of it.

skini3

Essential fatty acids – promote normal skin cell function. The Rheins barrier (the skins protection system) lies in the top 2/3 layers of the epidermis…this is created by both water and oil lipids.

Vitamin A: promotes cell communication.

Vitamin C: promotes collagen production, anti ageing and skin vibrancy.

Vitamin E: Antioxidant to assist in the prevention of ageing.

Exercise: to promote the flow of nutrients to the cells.

Positive thinking: Your cells respond to the emotions and thought within your body, so send some love.

Interesting facts:

Your skin weighs approx 15% of your total body weight.

Over 50% of the dust in your home is dead skin cells. Keep it clean.

The skin is the finest on the eye area, approx 0.02 mm. This is why it is essential to use eye care products specifically designed for the finer skin.

Love the skin you’re in, Charlie x.

P.s check out my youtube debut here, I would love your feedback (please note I only tolerate positivity, love and kindness in my world) and if you would share my message.

The Pretty Qualities; Honesty.

Have we become so self obsessed/busy that we’ve forgotten the moral code? The right way to treat other people? Common courtesy? It seems to me that we are breeding a culture of ‘its all about me’.

h1

Honesty is a quality that seems to be lacking. In a society where we all live a little guarded, protecting ourselves and our hearts from hurt and disappointments, wouldn’t it be important to spend time practising this quality?

I’ve found that people will be dishonest when trying to protect themselves, rather than being honest and dealing with the circumstances.

Honesty is always appreciated.

If you know something but you don’t tell someone, are you being dishonest or simply omitting the truth? Obviously I don’t promote to interfere with other people’s business, just to act your own way, with integrity and honestly.

‘Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom’. Thomas Jefferson.

As a business development manager, and a skin care trainer, one of the best lessons I have learnt; if you don’t know something, be honest, find out the answer and get back to the client/student. People respect honesty and view dishonesty with disdain.

h2

Are you an honest person?

Being honest means you refrain from lying, cheating, stealing and acting hypocritically.

If something/someone upsets you, do you hold onto resentment, or do you let the other person know their actions have affected you (of course this happens in life, were all different people on our own journeys). Be honest, talk about how those actions have made yo feel, and then choose to get over it, or invest your time elsewhere. Everyone has a different set of morals and values that they live by, spend time with people who share your moral code (not saying some are good, some are bad, just everyone is different).

‘Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around’. Leo Buscaglia

h5

Truth hurts. It’s true. The truth can be more damaging than a lie, or omitting it, but the truth will always come to light. Your better to be the person telling it. Whether to a lover, family or friend, honesty isn’t easy. Especially when words of truth have the ability to hurt, but honesty is always valued.

Many situations can be avoided when you act honestly.

I know now, if i make a mistake (whether in work or relationships) I’m quick to admit it and then FIX it. Be honest.

‘Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress’. Gandhi

The truth is no one is perfect, but we are all here trying to live our lives happily with great love, family and friendship, to accomplish this, you must include honesty in your list of core qualities.

‘If Im honest I have to tell you I still read fairy tales and I like them best of all.’ Audrey Hepburn

Be honest with yourself. Who you are, what you like, what you dislike, stop trying to be somebody you’re not. When you start acting in a manner that is true to you, you’ll find the happiness you have been searching for, act from a place of integrity, live a life of passion.

‘There are those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and also be honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained. Lao Tzu

Treat other people how you want to be treated.
