Successful; you already are.

All to often we run around creating chaos and ‘busyness’ in our lives; working hard, aiming higher, claiming that when we achieve ‘that’, get ‘that’ or do ‘this’, we will be happy.

But will we?

success9

The answer of course is no. If you cannot learnt to be happy with all that you have now, how will you be happy with more?

Material things; that promotion, that house, $$$, do not guarantee happiness.

Yet we claim these as symbols of success.

‘Everyone chases after happiness, not noticing that happiness is at their heels’ Bertolt Brecht

We use our ‘busyness’ as a sign of success; the busier we are the more important/successful we think we are.

Success, derived from the Latin succedere, means ‘to go on well’. Surely this would imply that success is a journey?

We {myself included} wake up with thoughts of ‘just do it’, ‘you can have it all’, ‘make it happen’, now Im not saying these are not good thoughts, but what is your ‘it’? What is ‘it’ that you are striving for.

Is it material? Or is it to inspire? Is it to love more? Emotional/spiritual goals?

Happiness is not an ‘it’ and the more you chase it the more difficult it will become to achieve.

‘If your definition of success has little or no measure of love in it, get another definition’.

Tell me, if you were to go to sleep every night content and happy…is this success?

We often read bibliographies of great men, who upon their last words wished they had made more time for the things that mattered; their family, their wife…their loved ones. See, they’ve realised, just a little to late,  that love is what it is all about. At the end of the day. Everyday. It all comes down to love.

‘The intelligent man quickly realize the importance of gold’ Hafiz

What is really important to you?

If love is important, how can you have more love in your life today?

If happiness is important, how can you be happier today?

If health is important, how can you be healthier today?

success8

{I just adore this, who will swim in the rain with me?}

Be present now. Whilst yes, I am a dreamer and I have BIG plans, when I find myself daydreaming {this includes interior designing & launch party invite creations} I have to make a conscious effort to return to the moment, to today. Because if I don’t, If I spend my time to far in the clouds, to far in the ‘when I’ thoughts, the things that actually need to be done to make this dream come true, wont be.

Do you do what you love everyday?

Do you smile with someone everyday?

Do you exercise, eat healthy everyday?

These are moments of success.

‘Dont aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.’ David Frost.

{I am so blessed to receive such kind words like the above, truly makes my heart smile, and keeps me going when those not so great things happen, as they do in business, love, life.}

It is a proven fact that happier people are more productive. So saying something like ‘I am happy with my work’ will generate a positive outcome. Saying something like’ I hate work’ wont.

If today you can just be a little better than yesterday, your already on your way to creating your own dream reality.

‘Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. Winston Churchill.

Even the above quote states that success is to keep going. If you ask me about business, happiness or love {not that I know a whole lot, I make mistakes everyday, but I am trying}, my words to you, to anyone would be to find what makes you happy, believe in yourself and never quit.

Just keep going.

Love & light, Charlie x.

Love right now. No matter where you are in your life, or what is happening, you are exactly where you should be & everything will always be ok.

Authentic Success

Are you waiting until you  the hot husband, the white range rover, the multi million $ house to feel successful?

Would you believe me if I said you are already successful with everything you have; right now, in this exact moment?

‘Dont aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.’ David Frost

Would you feel it?

So what if you dont have all the things society says you should.

Success is what you make of it. The definition means; the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

So what is your aim, what is your purpose?

For me, my purpose is to share love, daily, to create change in the world. To inspire just one person with my thoughts and actions, and with Clean Treats, its the fact that just one choice {#charliesballs} is a healthier choice for one person. Its these small daily healthy habits that can create change.

‘Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscle, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.’ Swami Vivekananda

If you take a moment to breathe, be still and reflect on the true beauty that is in your life…Im pretty sure you’ll see success.

Ive recently felt my heart hurt a little from both old and new love, and instead of feeling that I will always be unsuccessful in relationships, Im trying to find peace and calm with the great relationships/friendships I have built.  I’ve been quite overwhelmed with the love and support of my close friends…and arent friendships still a relationship with others? Although it may not be romantical love, its still a relationship between 2 people and Im choosing to value these; this is success (rather than create stress and drama in my life, with ‘I will never have a good relationship/marriage’ thinking).

‘To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence. Mark Twain

What we focus on grows. Im not saying its ok to just be happy where you are in life, Im a big believer in pushing yourself, getting outside of your comfort zone and really finding what makes you happy, but instead of chasing success, or making the statement we’ve all to often heard, or say to ourselves ‘ Ill be happy when…’, why not find happiness now, in this present moment? Actively change your thoughts to appreciate all the blessings you have.

This is the happiness trap.

Be happy now with what you have whilst working for all that you dream of.

Stop comparing where you are on your own journey to where other people are. Comparison really is the thief of all joy. Thats their life, not yours and as glamourous/perfect it can appear to be on their ‘highlight reel’ (social media), I can promise you, it’s not. We all have our own challenges and fears. Its our decision whether we choose to work through and overcome them or let them get the better of us.

‘Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.’ Winston Churchill

Success, it’s about being ok with who you are, where you have been and where you are going.

‘Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.’ Bruce Lee

Being grateful (yes, everything I do always comes back to my ‘attitude of gratitude’ belief) for every perfect and not so perfect thing in your life. The bad happens so we can appreciate the good, the dark comes before the light, and mistakes are just proof that you are trying.

‘Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.’ Albert Einstein

What is your greatest success?

Love & light, Charlie x.

Today I am so so grateful for the time and love I have invested into the world around me, my relationships, because in my time of need/hurt I’ve been shown what true success is…love.

My past does not define me.

I recently went home; Mt Maunganui in New Zealand.

As a 30 year old returning to the streets I used to roam, where I used to cause havoc, I realised I am no longer that person and I will not let my past define me.

I choose to be thankful for everything I was ever given, for the things that I wasnt.

I am grateful I experienced the life I did, the things that occurred, because they make me the person I am today…

I am not a victim to my past.

I will make conscious choices everyday to live the best life that I can.

Love & light, Charlie x.

The reason I returned home was to celebrate my Oma & Opas 60th/Diamond wedding anniversary. Such a special love, an incredibly beautiful day.

The past is who you were; not who you are…

I was recently paid a visit by my past, almost instantaneously I became the person I USED to be.

‘I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.’ Thomas Jefferson

Amongst my life changing decisions it seemed all to easy to revisit the pleasurable (although rare) memory’s of this particular time and person. I was of course hesitant, my heart had rebuilt & restored, and in the process and particularly  built a wall for protection agains this person (my weakness).

However I was still tempted, to slowly take a step backwards and reminisce about the good times. Previously I would have run backwards as fast as I could to ‘finally’ have his love. A love I believed was  true. Unfortunately, I believe in true love and the greater good in people.

So, even though I was hesitant, protected, why did I find myself falling for his words, proclamations of love, all over again?? (We had been here, done this numerous times before, so many I couldn’t count). To revisit those tiny moments of happiness? When really in our reality they were rare treasures lost amongst the pain and hurt.

image

I have learnt and will attempt to continue to do so, that we cannot run from our past, we can choose to accept it, but it does not define us.
So what if you had a bad relationship? So what if you weren’t the person you are today? That is why it is the past. It is not the present, but the more time you spend living in the past, the more of the present you will miss.

‘If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at operate, you are living in the present.’ Lao Tzu

We consume ourselves with thoughts of what if, what more could I have done?

The (honest) truth is there is nothing more you could have done or could have been.

So just stop tormenting yourself with an illusion of something that isn’t/can’t and won’t be real.

Every day, we create our life, our paths by the choices we take, in this very moment.

You cannot change yesterday. But you have the power to change today.

I’m reminding myself that sometimes it’s ok to look backwards as a reflection off how far I have come, but don’t spend to much time looking backwards, you wont be able to see where you are going, and you will stumble and fall (you’ll end up going nowhere). Look forward to the bright shiny future that is yours.

So, After my recent trip backwards, I felt guilt, blame, upset at myself that I had let this occur (all over again). It wasn’t until I practised some of my self soothing habits (yoga, breathing & I always live a good pound the pavement stress relieving run), that I realised…so what. It was only a very brief trip down memory lane and if anything I should be thankful, appreciative because it only created a sense of belief & assurance that I was in fact in the right place, doing what is right for me, in fact this little trip backwards had in turn propelled me forwards, more grateful, more appreciative and more loving towards everything I have in my life now.

It’s ok to contemplate the what ifs, to reminisce, the past has contributed to the absolutely gorgeous person you are today. Be thankful. Then Let go. With love and light.

You cannot change the past, it’s already been written. In fact when you go re read it, you already know what will happen.
Appreciate today, write new chapters of your life, you are the author, the director and the movie star (wow, you must be super talented 😉

The oppourtunity is today. It’s yours.
Look forward towards the sunshine and those shadows will behind you.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.’ Mother Theresa

Be in the Moment…

Wherever you are, be there. Have you ever contemplated this statement and wondered, how could you be somewhere else? with life and the daily desire to become more, I must say I have been found guilty of being physically present, but mentally elsewhere.

‘Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the on the present moment.’ Buddha

bt1

Sometimes I find myself exactly where I want to be, yet my mind is elsewhere to be found, running through my mental ‘to do’ list, organising tomorrow’s schedule, or contemplating what that person really meant during our last conversation.

‘Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present’.  Jim Rohn.

Stillness of the mind, peace, calmness,  can be difficult to obtain (especially if you are a ‘I can do it all/have it all type if person like myself). It’s a skill that is definitely worth mastering and one that is effective in creating better time management, better relationships and overall better efficiency.

bt5

I have found that for me, the key to being actively present is to manage a daily productivity list (also known as a ‘to do’ list). In the morning I can pre organise my day into categories:

*Work

*Training

*Creative/inspired/(me) time.

In each category I then list my top priorities, what must be done today, and as I write them down, their importance lessons.

Same for training, and inspired time (this is my time to do what I love and enjoy). I often keep 1hr free at night time for this. It can include reading, writing, social…whatever I am feeling I’m needing.

bt2

We all have things that we need to do. I have daily and weekly planners so that I can monitor my level of energy that goes into each day and I can balance my activities. This also means I can plan my meals and be prepared.

Having a plan allows me to remove all the ‘to dos’ from swirling around in my mind, removing all the mind ‘noise’ and visualising them clearly for mental clarity.

This in turn allows me to de clutter my mind that can so easily become full with clutter and effectively allows me to enjoy every moment as it comes, to be actively present in whatever it is that I am doing.

bt3

Being actively present means that you are 100% involved in the here and now, enjoying it. Not thinking about yesterday, not worrying about tomorrow, just living and loving your life exactly as it is in this very moment.

Be present:

Pay attention; this isn’t the easiest of tasks. Research shows that during lectures, classes we only retain 30% of the information we are given (where are our minds for the other 70%? Cute guy in class perhaps?)

Actively engage; actively listen.

Focus.

‘Confine yourself to the present’. Marcus Aurelius

Let go of the ‘what if’s’.

Remember; what will be will be. There’s really no point in worrying about something you cannot change, and if you can change it, make a plan and do it.

I sometimes find myself daydreaming, mentally drifting away from myself thinking about my (so bright I’m in love with it) future, I have to remind myself that today is my life, today, this very moment is the one that I’ve always been waiting for.

‘What matters is to live in the present, live now, for every moment is now. It is your thoughts and acts of the moment that create your future. The outline of your future path already exists, for you created its pattern by your past.’ Sai Baba

The happiness formula includes being in an area of development/growth. Striving to become more. Enjoy the strive.

bt4

Quiet your mind, remove the  turbulence. Like yoga or mediation you will finally see and be who you truly are.
