The Skin Expert

I’ve been patiently waiting to introduce you to my new blog {within my blog}…The Skin Expert.

Some of you may know, others may not, but I have been in the beauty industry for the last 12 years.

Now before I started claiming myself as an expert, which I do believe myself to be especially when it comes to the Integumentary system (skin), I wanted to ensure I could confidently do so.

‘Knowledge is love and light and vision’ Helen Keller

The definition of an expert:

Excerpt from wikipedia…

Research in this area attempts to understand the relation between expert knowledge and exceptional performance in terms of cognitive structures and processes. The fundamental research endeavor is to describe what it is that experts know and how they use their knowledge to achieve performance that most people assume requires extreme or extraordinary ability. Studies have investigated the factors that enable experts to be fast and accurate

It will take you at least a decade to achieve expertise, and you will need to invest that time wisely, by engaging in “deliberate” practice—practice that focuses on tasks beyond your current level of competence and comfort. Excerpt from Harvard business review.

‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.’ John Quincy Adams

The Skin Expert blog is about sharing critical information about your largest organ, your skin. Want healthy skin that glows? To prevent deterioration? To cure skin concerns? This is the place you will find everything you need, from product reviews (yes, I will share the ugly truth about some of those ‘wonder’ products, skin health tips, nutrition and your skin, and chinese face reading.

I come to you with 12 years knowledge. I studied to become a beauty therapist and qualified when I was 18 (it was that or the Army), I then worked in a leading Day Spa in New Zealand as a Senior therapist, before working onboard cruise ships with Steiner (an Ionithermie column for any Steiner people out there). I then located myself on the Gold Coast as a senior therapist for a multi million dollar day spa, before I was asked to become spa manager (staff…and those trials), before deciding that I wanted to become a business development manager…I just loved products. I have worked for leading brands such as Pevonia Botanica, Medicalia, Napoloeon Perdis, Morroccan Oil, as an Educator for Skinstitut and then following my heart into nutrition; a business development manager for Flush Fitness whilst completing my Health Coach certification at IIN.

Over these 12 years I have been healthy, over weight, underweight, stressed, balanced, fit, not fit…and used a multitude of products, from the good to the bad, I’ve experienced reactions and glowing skin.

The Skin Expert blog is designed to help you understand your most valuable asset…yourself and to love the skin you are in, from the inside out. I will share the truth with you about products, ingredients and those ‘miracle’ workers (dont get me wrong, I am susceptible to a little enhanced beauty). I will share with you the reasons why your skin does what it does, why before that hot date you break out, why wrinkles form (and how and the meaning of where). I will share with you the pure beauty that is eastern medicine…when something occurs in your body or in your skin, this is a sign of some internal imbalance.

I will also be offering online skin consultations (via chinese face reading and a health consult), please email me charlie@charliedehaas.com.au for info.

Todays tip; Vitamin C is ESSENTIAL (read IMPERATIVE) for Collagen production (the natural stuff that keeps us looking beautiful and young). By adding more Vitamin C into your diet you can increase Collagen production by up to 8x. Increased Collagen production…yes please!!!
